I have a baby blackbird which cant fly yet.I have him in the garden just now and his parents are coming to feed him.He stayed in the house last night we fed him worms.I was pleased when they came looking for him.I have named him Orville because he wont move by himself although he doesn't appear to be injured.I am glad its bank holiday so I have the time to do this. Its not easy as I have a cat who has to be locked in whilst orville is in the garden. What do I do on Tues when I go back to work? Any ideas please
Theres a great guy on woodseats road that takes in wildlife. I dont know the number but its on the left side going up from abbeydale road and theres a sign in his window. i had to hand rear a baby sparrow last year and eventually i had to go back to work and so i took him there. Also rescued a magpie with an injured wing and the chap is always welcome to wildlife! Hope this helps.
his name is Midge try this for contact details http://www.voluntaryrescuecentre.org.uk/

I know that its horrible to think of the little bird outside and in danger, but if you leave it alone the parents will look after it, if you bring it in it will be very difficult to raise...maybe you could pop him onto a garage roof out of the way but in sight of the parents?

Thanks for all your comments and advice. Will go to woodseats Rd This baby would not survive if I left it completly as it would not try to escape all the local cats as I said I named it orville as it just sits there. The parents have been feeding it all day but it never moved from where I put it on the grass. Will keep you posted on his progress
Midge is great with birds so he will be going to the right place, I am sure of that . Midge has had many birds over the years and has a good success rate. Maybe your little bird fell out of his nest to early to fly so Midge will be a great place for him.
