Is that the same girl who had puppies at the end of last year?

What a shame - poor lassie - and more staffy's to add to the pressure of them too.

I hope you can get her spayed before it happens again, as i know you were struggling for a new house and alsorts then weren't you. What a shame she got caught this time

I would absolutely dread trying to find homes for staffy's now - but maybe you have homes waiting - lets hope so and that the people are also aware of the staffy crisis. Please tell them to get their dogs neutered and not have any more puppies. Sheffield Council Kennels are bursting to the seams with unwanted staffy's who have nowhere to go. No doubt all of them will be wanted at some time, and probably 'accident's.

Good luck with the babes and with Tia

How on earth did that happen? I thought they only had one season a year ... surely they aren't supposed to have litters so close together?

Bitches have 2 seasons a year and could be mated on both of them

can i just say that never intentionally bred tia this time i was going to get her done but my OH worked out the dates wrong and before i knew it she was pregnant. i never wanted to go through the whole having to clean the mess of the pups as i found it really hard the last time as i had 3 children to look after, and this time it will be harder as ive got 3kids and a new born to look after as well as clean tia and her pups. so far ive found homes for a few pups through family and friends.

I know how hard this must be after having my 2 little fosters from 4 weeks old, plus an older puppy, god knows how people cope with whole litters, I never want the experience thats for sure... I really love these but never again :hihi: (4 hours sleep cause of them, tomorrow I might say different).
Well done for finding some a home already, I hope that you don't find it too difficult with the others, are they pure staffy?
I guess mistakes sometimes happen, and if she is spayed after this lot then Tia will soon recover and forget the whole thing, all you can do now is home this lot, and do your best to make sure the new owners are responsible enough to get them neutered.

Nezzoz
05-05-2008, 10:29
yes they are pure bred staffys, ive got the male booked in on tues for his op and when tia is ready im going to have her done also just to make 100% sure that she never gets pregnant again.

good to hear nezzoz its true what rain rescue says, im sure you would be devastated if your little cute puppies end up in kennals and may face death row, due to irresponsible foster parents  Its a shame because they are beautiful faithful dogs good look with rehoming

how do dogs breed by accident ? I have 8 bitches from 14 yr old down to 6mth old and never have any of them ever accidently bred even though i also have had 2 dogs sharing the same home ,if something could have been avoided then its not an accident but its being irrisponsable . Being involved with a rescue that saved over 2,000 dogs from destuction last yr i really feel for the accidental pupies. Sorry i dont want to upset anyone by what i post just want to push the issue of spaying & neutering

Snigs - we just see so many faces of dogs that are unwanted and ultimately - face being killed because of this. Thats with us and with the Doris Banham Sanctuary - we all see it at the front end.

Personally - I don't think enough people who have staffy's truly realise the crisis that this breed is in - anyone who has staffys love them, and really can't believe that so many are killed every day of the week - as we see happen.

I was talking to someone yesterday - whos' dad is proud to be breeding staffy's. Whilst i look at a lovely staffy and know its a fantastic example of the breed - because so many are not - thats why they are flooded.

I feel for you Nezzoz - it will not be easy with the children and the puppies - but I am sure you will do right by them all. and yes - you will get them both sorted so it won't happen again. I just hope that you will also spread the word far and wide about the poor predicament of the staffy - to stop even more being born in the future.
The sheffield council kennels must have at least 20 staffy's or staffy crosses in at the moment - and we can't get any rescues to take them around the country - as they too are full of them.
Best wishes to little Tia too

I'll need to get Porscha spayed soon, how much will it cost approx. and any student discounts available?

try ringing the RSPCA and ask if they're still doing the spaying / castration vouchers. I got my GSD & 3 cats done free :) You didn't need to be in receipt of benefits to get the vouchers either

fox20thc
06-05-2008, 12:31
I had a look, apparently the voucher scheme runs through the council and may be means tested. I've emailed them anyway to see if I am eligible. :)

SpeedDemon
06-05-2008, 12:48
ooo i dont know anything about that - i just contacted RSPCA directly, never asked me for details of my income or anything. I was gonna get them all done anyway, but it would have been in stages as and when I could afford it. As it was, the GSD & female cat were done as soon as her kittens were weaned, then her 2 boy kittens that we kept were done as soon as they were old enough. They asked me which vets I wanted to use, and they just made out the vouchers to Millhouses Vets 4 Pets and sent them to me in the post :)

You could also try ringing The Dogs Trust - contact the Darlington Branch and see if they can help. Pity cos we did a free neutering for staffy's throughout all last year which was supported by the Dogs Trust. We did about 100 in Sheffield alone - but they withdrew it at the end of 2007.
They will sometimes do it for what they class as 'a bitch in crisis' which obviously your little girl is - living with an entire male - so they may do if you can't get any help locally.
good luck but obviously - you will have to leave mum for a good few months yet, but at least you can get dad done straight away.

Dogs trust only give out vouchers for people on certain benefits working tax credit not child tax credit, income support etc and the council do the same. [We knew we wouldn't be eligible ]We had to have our bitch spayed, it is the decent thing to do and as said loads of sad cases in rescue. The cost of her spay was £165 plus we bought some stronghold and had antibiotics for both of my dogs so it cost £230 in less than a week.He is to be neutered next £130.I am on a mission  and have told loads of my freinds about the crisis in the rescue and got them to look on the site. Most people are unaware.Hope all goes well with mom and pups :)
