View Full Version : Moving to Crookes soon
espadrille 29-03-2005, 19:56 As I am still waiting with baited breath for the powers that be to move on with the proceedings of buying and selling my house,I was wondering if any Forum members will be living near to us when we move to Crookes in ( hopefully ) about 3 weeks time.
We will be moving to a house on Brighton terrace Road .I would be interested to meet new families living around there.
My son already attends King Edwards so he may know a few people from School , but the rest of the family will have to form new friendships. My daughter is 9 and very much a social butterfly so I am sure she will have no problems. Shewill go to Westways So, that is the kids sorted. That just leaves me and the hubbie and that is more difficult when you get to our age( 43 and 47 ).
So it would be nice if any of you of a similar age are potential friends/neighbours, I would be happy to hear from you.
Applegrim 29-03-2005, 20:48 Norton Lees loss is Crookes gain, hope you will be very happy in your new home, and it's been worth the struggle, it's been a very worrying time for you, but I hope you'll be very happy.Good Luck.
I moved my son from westways school a few years ago so keep an eye out for your daughter the school policy on bulling is just deny and ignore it. allegedly one of the parents is sueing the school for neglecting to inform her when her son sufferd a nasty head injury for which the school was liable. Apparently they didnt even take him to a and e
WE looked at some houses round there and mona ave but we are still looking for the right one, have moved our search to walkley and crookes. glad to hear you managed to find somewhere and good luck with the move :)
Bizarre coincidence. I lived at Norton Lees until I was 7 and went to Carfield School.
I then moved to Crookes and lived on Pickmere Rd. I went to Westways School then King Edwards and my Nan used to live on Brighton Terrace Road!!!
Sorry now live at Chapeltown so none of my 4 kids are near that area now but just thought of all the weird connections!
By the way - it gets very cold and snowy as Crookes is apparently on high ground!

Crookes is also largely full of students, some people don't like them.
As for the snow/cold, Crookes has nothing on the upper Stannington area, especially in the cul-de-sac where we live, we've been snowed in in the past :(
Yes Rich, Students over populate Crookes buts it not bad at all :D
Four good selling points to Crookes, and they all live next door :heyhey:
espadrille 31-03-2005, 12:46 Well, Iam wondering if I will get a chance to taste the kind of life that Crookes can offer...still awaiting the call from the surveyor to do the 2 nd survey on my house..
How can it take so long for something as simple as that??
I feel that after 6 months, my patience is finally waring thin and if things dont pick up a pace soon, I will loose it altogether so again, watch this space..
Hi Espadrille
Good luck with the move.
I lived in BTR about 20 years ago, I liked it up there :)
Whats going on with the survey?
Are you waiting to get your own place surveyed by your buyer?
If its taking more than a week get on the phone to the agent, dont be shy you are paying them for this dont forget, and jolly well ask why its dragging on.
Cheers
d
espadrille 01-04-2005, 05:45 Just had a call to say their surveyor is coming next blooming Thursday!!,yet another wait.We need to exchange within 4- 6 weeks of 16th March so time is ticking away.
This will be the 2nd survey that someone has had.The first person only had the valuation done( cheapest) but this person is having The homebuyers report.
Trouble is , they then do their report, that is sent off, then you have to wait for the offer letter, then you have to exchange, then complete,so I have to wait....and wait....and wait..,patience is a virtue
