I have no interest in football at all, but listening to the radio this morning I was compelled to look up this image.
After seeing it, I do find it very emotionally provocative. Perhaps it's because I know the circumstances after listening to the radio, or perhaps it's due to seeing something very tender between 3 men, captured perfectly by the photographer?

I saw the picture, read the article, and wondered what the thundering blazes he was on about.

Maybe that's just me. The guy scored a penalty, his mother's just died, he's a bit emotional. So what?

Remember your dealing with a poster who is genetically incapable of emotion.

That might be your opinion, but not many will share it. I'm just at a loss to understand why the rest of the country is supposed to share his feelings. She wasn't our mother.

You know full well what I meant.

Apparently not. You said he was a ponce for feeling emotional, which is (a) goddam rude, and (b) irrelevant to my point in the first place.

Maybe you should stick to what we're talking about, and avoid confusion.

It's called showing compassion!! Did you say when Madeleine McCann got kidnapped, i don't care, she's not my daughter?

It's called showing compassion!!

And since when has showing compassion been worthy of a national news story?

Tens of thousands of people die every single day of the year. Do you show compassion for every single one of them? No you don't. Most of them you don't even know about.

Why is this guy's case any more significant than anybody else's? And why are we discussing it?

What a stupid thing to say?
