Hi, Im interested in getting a rabbit, I want a young one, however would prefer to get one from some sort of rescue centre rather than a per shop or breeder. Is this possible or do they tend to be older from rescue centres?

Also can anyone reccomend anywhere to get a decent size hutch and run etc without breaking the bank? Pets at home are £100+ for a decent size hutch?

Thanks

I can tell you when we first began boarding we were given some pets@home hutches needless to say after the first six months we had to go and invest in some more hutches. We managed to get some from Superpet in Woodseats at a great price and they have lasted well, i steam clean them and scrub them regularly. Good quality last well.
As i said in previous post on here, we have a rabbit that has given birth while staying here, her owners can't have her back yet as the babies arn't out of the nest yet. I am not a rescue but these babies will be going to rescue as the owner can't or won't cope with them and we will end up with more unwanted bunnies. I want good homes for all of them if i can find them. so if you are interested please pm me. as i said they arn't ready for another 5 weeks by then they will be 8 weeks old, well handled and even more cute.
I need to learn how to post pictures!!

Here's a pic of our hutch. Read further down the thread for the description. It was £120 from Focus, the home and garden place, but well worth it! Only a few quid more than you'd pay for an ordinary one. After you click here, (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=342264) click on 'rabbit' at the end of the post!

Teeny, this is how I learnt! Takes a bit of reading and trying, but if I can do it, anyone can! :hihi:

I like that pic, Sugarpuff. Is it you who looks like they're trapped in the hutch with a camera :D

As for the question, did THE_DADDY say he could build hutches or was that dog kennels?

He he, yep that was me in the window!

Don't know anything about THE_DADDY building stuff, but I imagine whichever he builds, if he adapted the design a bit it would be fine!

I take it it'll be an outdoor bunny?

I've just got an indoor bunny cage from Jolleys for £45 - its MASSIVE. Its new resident is quietly munching through some celery in it right now. :D

Happy Hutch company have some lovely 6ft by 2ft by 2ft hutches with 6ft by 4ft runs attached. They are about £115.

£100+ is really what you would expect to pay for a decent sized hutch and run. Rabbits can be quite expensive pets to keep too. I know, I've got 6 and they've cost me £1000's over the last couple of years. They're worth it though :)
