My main goal is to be able to sell on the internet. One of the things I was thinking about is hosting for other people's web sites. I know nothing about this but I am really interested. I need to create a means to suppliment my income. I was told that I would have to buy the server 2003 for this. But I dont know what all I would need to do. Would I also have to pay someone to host mine? How does this work? If I want to start a web hosting, how do you set that up? As you can see I need lots of information on this.

Hey there, to be honest I would suggest doing some more research on this before jumping in with both feet as you can do web hosting in a variety of ways such as you maintaining your own server - hardware etc or using someone elses server and acting as a reseller.

If your not 100% on all the technical backend stuff then you it maybe worth looking at becoming a reseller and using someone elses servers as you can fall back on their support depending on your terms.

There are a lot of "reseller affiliate" packages you can buy, where most of that stuff is done for you, but few people will go for anything but a well recommended hosting service, due to the potential risk/cost of losing custom due to downtime.

Also what you're talking about would involve buying rackspace in one of the big server houses, which won't be cheap to say the least!
