Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I received an extremely large and heavy parcel via parcelforce from Amazon today. Very quick delivery I'll give them that. But there was a part missing inside the box. A very very small part. I e-mailed to ask if they could send me just that part, but they want me to return the whole parcel and they'll send me a new one.

1. The parcel is very large and heavy and I don't have a car, and theres no post office within walking distance.

2. They will only issue a replacement to the same delivery address, the item now won't be available for 1-2 weeks, and I'm coming back to Sheffield in a few days (had the item delivered to parents house as staying here for a bit). Despite the fact that the item was billed to my Sheffield address.

Hmph. All over something really really small but unfortunately essential. Anyone had any similar problems or got any ideas what I can do? Rant over.

Ah, seems like it's all going wrong! I'd contact them again and see if they'll send out pre-paid return labels - that way the courier will come and pick it up from (your parents?) house. They can then do whatever they like with it and credit your account with a refund. I strongly suspect you'll have to re-order it if you are "changing" delivery address.

If you don't fancy that, another idea may be to contact the manufacturer direct and explain your situation. If it's a small part, they may well send you one. Worth a go, but it may not be quick.

Thanks for the ideas. I may try contacting the manufacturers, I've written back to Amazon to emphasise the 'cannot get it to a post office' situation. If they don't come up with anything productive, I'm going to bring the item back up to sheffield with me (the item itself isn't too big, just the packaging it came in!), order another one to arrive at my sheffield address, then send the one with missing parts back in the packaging the new one comes in and ask for a refund. (There's a post office in walking distance in sheffield). I just hope the refund doesn't take 30 days.
