View Full Version : Liverpool Table Bid For Barry! LFCMadPaul 02-05-2008, 11:16 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=563509&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow BasilRathbon 02-05-2008, 11:22 Barry Manilow? Barry off Eastenders? Barry The Badger-Baiting Beaver? NEKRO138 02-05-2008, 11:24 Barry Henderson. He lives down the road from me. To be honest, he's not up to much. He's about 56 and drinks like a fish. LFCMadPaul 02-05-2008, 11:36 Barry Manilow? Barry off Eastenders? Barry The Badger-Baiting Beaver? Sorry, my mistake. I stupidly thought that people might have actually heard all the rumours that have been circulating the media for months regarding Liverpool's interest in Gareth Barry. Yet again however, I think you knew that anyway, or you would have done had you clicked on the link provided! ReginaldD 02-05-2008, 13:47 Indeed Paul I'm sure they have all heard the rumours. Personally I don't want him to go to Liverpool. Just as Villa are building a competitive side this would seem like the last nail in the coffin for a side breaking the top four monopoly. JFKvsNixon 02-05-2008, 13:48 Sorry, my mistake. Yet again however, I think you knew that anyway, or you would have done had you clicked on the link provided! It seems your team is on the slide, I think that Barry is a step down from Alonso; who seems to be on his way out of Loserpool. ReginaldD 02-05-2008, 13:53 It seems your team is on the slide, I think that Barry is a step down from Alonso; who seems to be on his way out of Loserpool. Don't talk rubbish, if Barry had moved to a top 4 club at the same age Lampard did, having the same oppurtunities. He'd be just as good as him if not better. Bull Dog 02-05-2008, 14:02 It seems your team is on the slide, I think that Barry is a step down from Alonso; who seems to be on his way out of Loserpool. Dont talk Crap Barry has been massive this season while Alonso has had a very poor season compared to lase season Would take Barry over Alonso everytime JFKvsNixon 02-05-2008, 14:05 Dont talk Crap Barry has been massive this season while Alonso has had a very poor season compared to lase season Would take Barry over Alonso everytime Don't talk rubbish, if Barry had moved to a top 4 club at the same age Lampard did, having the same oppurtunities. He'd be just as good as him if not better. We'll see next season. But I think that you both may be in for yet another rude awakening if you think that Barry is the player who can push Loserpool into actually challenging for the title next season. But I think that you both may be in for yet another rude awakening if you think that Barry is the player who can push Loserpool into actually challenging for the title next season. And when did i say that he was going to push liverpool towards the prem title??? I Just said that i think he is a better player this season than Alonso, which he has been daftlad 02-05-2008, 14:28 Dont understand Liverpool saying they are selling Crouch and Pennant and yet they are keeping Voronin who is absolute ****e Bull Dog 02-05-2008, 14:31 Dont understand Liverpool saying they are selling Crouch and Pennant and yet they are keeping Voronin who is absolute ****e Totally Agreed scottishdude 02-05-2008, 14:50 Seeings how Liverpool are the 4th wealthiest club in the whole wide world why don't they put a bid in for Gerrard's mate Lampard? If they played regularly in the same team they might actually play better for England. ;) Bull Dog 02-05-2008, 15:02 Seeings how Liverpool are the 4th wealthiest club in the whole wide world why don't they put a bid in for Gerrard's mate Lampard? If they played regularly in the same team they might actually play better for England. ;) Doubt that mate, they cancel each other out Heyesey 02-05-2008, 18:11 Doubt that mate, they cancel each other out True, but if they played with each other week in week out, they might gel and learn to function as a unit. The problem at England level is that they're both trying to be the same man on the park, and there's only room for one of him. (I remember some game once - charity event, or some such - where the organisers picked Ian Rush, John Aldridge and Gary Lineker in the same team. It was a hopeless disaster, as all three tried to stand on the exact same spot for most of the game. :D ) plekhanov 02-05-2008, 18:15 Just what Liverpool need another defensive minded midfielder with limited passing, long live the rafalution. Venables 02-05-2008, 18:23 Another backwards step for the reds. Awful. mholey 02-05-2008, 19:25 (I remember some game once - charity event, or some such - where the organisers picked Ian Rush, John Aldridge and Gary Lineker in the same team. It was a hopeless disaster, as all three tried to stand on the exact same spot for most of the game. :D ) lol, it was for charity mate, as if anyone really cared. I understand you have aspergers, ergo you may not understand that fully, but hey-ho, there ya go. LFCMadPaul 02-05-2008, 20:33 Dont understand Liverpool saying they are selling Crouch and Pennant and yet they are keeping Voronin who is absolute ****e Good point. The only reason I can think of as to why this would be the case is because selling Crouch and Pennant (with them being only squad players) would bring in a decent amount of money through transfer fee's but wouldn't damage the strength of the squad too much, unlike Voronin who cost Liverpool nothing and will probably leave for nothing! Liverpool need some high quality wide/attacking players this summer and that won't come cheap. Selling fringe players that would bring in a decent amount of cash seems to be the way Liverpool are going to play it this summer. If Barry comes in for around £10m as quoted, then Alonso will probably leave Anfield but it will be for quite alot more than the £10m outlayed on Barry. More in the region of about £16m I would think, considering the current market and the fact that it is Barcelona, Real Madrid and the likes that are the ones prepared to bid for him, so there again another profit will be made! I actually think that Barry will fit in at the side of Mascherano better than Alonso does. Alonso had a great first season at Liverpool but since then (for the past 2 seasons) he has been way short of the player we thought he was going to be. Hardly any goals and very few assists, along with the fact that he is a little on the slow side all add up to me thinking that maybe this could be a good move for all concerned. Hopefully, if this deal is wrapped up quickly, Liverpool can spend the majority of the summer concentrating on getting the players that are badly needed in our wide area's such as Full Backs, Wingers/Attacking Midfielders etc. LFCMadPaul 02-05-2008, 20:40 Just what Liverpool need another defensive minded midfielder with limited passing, long live the rafalution. Barry is a good all-round player that can play in a variety of positions. He has also recently broke into the national side and could now even be considered a regular, unlike Carrick or Hargreaves! If Barry comes in and Alonso leaves the club then guess what Pleck? The numbers are the same, so when you work it out, Liverpool haven't really got ANOTHER defensive midfielder have they? They have just replaced one with another, simple really! LFCMadPaul 02-05-2008, 20:41 Another backwards step for the reds. Awful. And how is that Venables? Titanic99 02-05-2008, 20:45 Took me kids to Anfield last Sunday to look round the museum, they actually got to touch the Champions Legue trophy as well as looking at all of the others.(memories of when I supported these as a kid,Crusaders home and away first European Cup success). Unfortunately I don't see the acquisition of Barry bringing back the glory days, they'll still finish up behind the other three next year. LFCMadPaul 02-05-2008, 20:59 Took me kids to Anfield last Sunday to look round the museum, they actually got to touch the Champions Legue trophy as well as looking at all of the others.(memories of when I supported these as a kid,Crusaders home and away first European Cup success). Unfortunately I don't see the acquisition of Barry bringing back the glory days, they'll still finish up behind the other three next year. Maybe not if Barry is the only signing Liverpool make, but somehow I doubt that very much. Torres last summer was a very good, high profile transfer that many people didn't think could/would happen at Liverpool. I expect one or two more of those type of transfers this summer!! We shall see. Conspirator 02-05-2008, 22:21 I think it'd be a good move if I'm honest I'm not a fan of Liverpool or Villa but Villa have had a much better season than Liverpool when you consider the money spent by both clubs. An instrumental part of that has been the consistency, creativity and captaincy of Gareth Barry. Also, he's arguably the best left sided midfield player in the country, more so the best naturally left footed player and in recent games for England he's been better than Lampard AND Gerrard. Depending on the fee, I'd say this is definitely a good move plekhanov 21-05-2008, 00:03 Barry is a good all-round player that can play in a variety of positions. He has also recently broke into the national side and could now even be considered a regular, unlike Carrick or Hargreaves! Because if Steve Mclaren preferred him to Carrick and Hargreaves he must be good  If Barry comes in and Alonso leaves the club then guess what Pleck? The numbers are the same, so when you work it out, Liverpool haven't really got ANOTHER defensive midfielder have they? They have just replaced one with another, simple really! Indeed they'll have replaced Alonso with an an inferior player either way I'm happy, as I said long live the rafalution :hihi: Bull Dog 21-05-2008, 01:54 Because if Steve Mclaren preferred him to Carrick and Hargreaves he must be good  Indeed they'll have replaced Alonso with an an inferior player either way I'm happy, as I said long live the rafalution :hihi: When has Barry ever let England Down? And whilst Alonso has had a VERY poor season Barry has had an Excellent season Inferior Player??? |
