Just recently I have found that the response from Google is really really slow - i.e. over 30 seconds to respond to a search query. Yahoo seems to be the same, although other search engines seem to be ok.

Does anyone know what may be causing this? I have scanned my pc for viruses and adware and all that, but have found nothing. It used to be fine and everything else seems ok and I have not installed any new software. I cannot work out what may be wrong.

It could be a problem with your service provider, their server may be experiencing problems accessing certain sites. I dont know how long you have had the problem but I would give it some time to see if it corrects itself. Good luck :)

Is it that you have switched from IE to Firefox by any chance or do you use FF and haven't speeded it up yet...?

For a few days last week BT Business Broadband had soem DNS problems which realy screwed Google up for BTBB subscribers. Like me. :)

Alternatively, have you run a virus / adware scan recently?

Well, thanks for your help and suggestions. Turns out it was Spyware after all - although I had run Spybot, I had failed to ensure that it was completely up to date. Downloaded the latest updates and ran it again and it found some search related gubbins. Got rid of that and Google is fine again.
