TRADING STANDARDS!!!!!!!!!
The link are c**p - i would speak to your local trading standards and see what they have to say. If the paperwork says nothing about it being open to students then you have a case, but check the small print!!
BobDaBuilder 29-03-2005, 10:57 Check it very carefully as well cos they are very clever ppl all these big wigs and they can afford very clever solicitors who don't actually put it in bold letters, could actually say that it is only availiable to students but not in so many words....
Tread carefully cos they make money from ppl actually trying to make claims....
The rich get richer while the poor get poorer
why the focus on the student issue, the poster already said that her son is a student, so even with that condition is elligible.
Whay i think it all a con my sen.
Read the conditions carefully and see if your son was definitely eligible and take it from there. I dare say there's also a clause in there along the lines "offer may be withdrawn/denied at any time at our discretion" so you'd not really have a leg to stand on if you fight it. Best try the gentle approach first.
I had a similar problem with a similar offer on a Samsung landline DECT phone I bought from them (use a voucher to get a free additional handset). It took them forever to do it and they had to be chased several times.
spiffymonkey 29-03-2005, 11:40 Get the money back, which shouldn't be a problem. From what you've said your son qualifies according to the paperwork you have been give, so if nothing else citizens advice will be able to help.
As to whether to take it further, I would be careful. Speak to citizens advice and consider the implications. If the matter is resolved (you get the money back) then further pressure could make Vodafone or the Dixons group turn unpleasant, and they have more money than you.

check small print, because there are going to be lots & lots of diffrent things you need to have or be, offers like that can be traicky to get hold off
any contract with a term such as "to be denied at our discretion" would be found to be unlawful as it's unreasonable to one party.
Contract law governs what can be in a contract, you can't just write down whatever you like and assume it makes it legally binding.
Plain Talker 30-03-2005, 22:37 The trouble is, you know what they say...
"Anything that sounds too good to be true..............
Usually is..." :(
Places like "the blink" do these "offers", to get you in, but when they get you in, the offer is either tied up with so much "terms and conditions" or so limited in number, that it just isn't worth the trouble. (Can you name anyone who ever managed to get one of the 25 quid videos from the lidl/aldi type places, for example
