I've a friend who wants to start a blog as a private diary, rather than one that is available for anyone to see. Is that possible? She wants it to be accessible for just her and another person: they're starting a project and want to have a record of the daily events before they launch it to their unsuspecting friends and family. They've tried setting one up but were horrifed to see that although they thought it was just between the two of them, everyone else who uses that blog site could see what they'd written. I know it's unlikely that someone who knows them could just stumble on it, but still....

Alternatively, they could just email between the two of them, but they wanted something that wasn't just going to sit in their inboxes. They've also wondered about doing something via a password-protected domain name/website but that didn't see to fit the bill either.

Is anyone able to help please?

Thanks a lot.

Is anyone able to help please?

1) - Buy a domain & web hosting
2) - Install one of the many pieces of blog sw/scripts
3) - protect the blog directory with htaccess
Done:thumbsup:

Livejournal have a privacy feature, it's FAQ Question #24 (I can't link to it)

If you set up a blog at www.blogger.com (which takes about 30 seconds!) you can then go into the settings and change it so that it can only be read by people who are authors of the blog.

Probably the least-hassle route for what your mate is trying to do.

I liked the words 'least-hassle' and you were right, it was!

Thanks to all who replied, much appreciated. :)
