Hi

Just reading the thread about the play 'Stirrings in Sheffield' reminded me of a restaurant at Ranmoor (Rustlings road, I think) - which took its name from the play and called itself 'Stirrings'

It was the first place I took my girlfriend who became my wife and was very 'upmarket' at that time for a Crookesmoor lad.

Must have had the right effect 'cus we just celebrated our silver anniversary!!

We have been left Sheffield for nearly twenty years now - is this place still going??? - I doubt it - these places never do - but it would be nice to know.

The Stirrings closed a long time ago. It was an Indian(?) restaurant for a while but was almost completely burned out in a fire, after which it stood in that state for a long time. I think work is being done on it now. I'll have a look next time I pass that way and let you know.

Thanks for this - I just had a thought that there might have been a really slim chance the place was still around - and we could have had a 25th celebration there the next time we visit the old home town.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond - you will be telling me next that the Berni Inn on Church Street is closed!! - he he

many thanks

Came past today. It's now an Indian restaurant called the Clay Oven. Now, how do we break it to him about the Berni Inn folks?
