I'm looking to buy some cordless headphones and wondered if anyone had any experience of them.

I'm after them specifically to watch dvds on a tv which has only one scart socket and no headphone socket. I can get a scart splitter but the ones I've seen wouldn't allow connection of both h'phones and dvd player.

Any help appreciated.

Are there no audio out sockets on the dvd player?

Yes, there are audio out sockets on the dvd but would using those allow me to watch anything on the tv or restrict me to only watching dvds?

No...if you plug your headphones into the DVD player you will only be able to hear DVD's.

If you look on your TV there will be some "phono" outputs somewhere - assuming it is a relatively modern TV. You should then be able to buy an adaptor to convert the phono to a headphone socket. Then you should be able to enjoy the TV through your headphones, as well as your DVD's and Videos.

Hope this helps?

Up to a point, except there are no phono outputs on the tv. It's about 14 years old and I don't really want to go the expense of a new tv just so I can watch telly when my partner's gone to bed.

Hmmmm....on my last TV there was a "headphones" socket? What sort of TV is it?

It's a series 170 Decca Colour 26" without Nicam.

You should be able to get hold of a scart splitter, with audio 'break out' phono connectors.

I've got a splitter/combiner that does this, but I just use it to break-out the audio.

Here's the sort of thing I mean....

This one seems a bit pricey, but it gives you an idea.

So, that's anything with music, gunfire, screams, laughter, aeroplanes taking off or landing. Doesn't leave much does it?

Instead of getting high-tech headphones ... why not get some cheeky low-tech pink ear muffs for the sleeping partner !!?

:o

Sorry max !!!

Bad suggestion day !!!
