View Full Version : Are the Owls guilty of false advertising?

This is a serious question.......

At the begining of the season, teams show how much they will save on season tickets in comparison to if you buy single matchday tickets......

Now because of the reduction in final matchday tickets, surely this information is now erroneous?

Could season ticket holders get a refund for the difference?

Robbie, you are making yourself look obsessed with Sheffield Wednesday....let it go son, let it go...sadly, many little piggies like yourself go through life with the same sad obseesion !
Unfortunately the illness is untreatable but to help you cope with it just say to yourself...the Blades are Massive...both in wealth and support..hail the mighty Blades ! LOL !

It could be worse the blades used the following enticement for people to buy season tickets in '07/'08. If thats not misleading the public with false hopes.

"The club have announced that 25,000 Blades fans will get their season ticket half price if the Blades gain promotion straight back to the Premiership next season.

Any fan who buys a ticket for next season (2007/08) will qualify for a half price season ticket the following season (2008/09) IF the Blades win promotion.

This means an adult season ticket will cost as little as Ģ170 for a full season in the top tier of English football!"

I wonder how many fans genuinely thought they'd get a reduction in '08/'09? Quite a few i bet.

Robbie, you are making yourself look obsessed with Sheffield Wednesday.

I would be saying the same thing had it been the Blades board that had done this.

In theory, probably yes; but you'd waste an awful lot more than five quid's worth of time and effort, trying to get a refund of five quid.

.

How is it misleading? It's clearly stating what would happen.

By the way, I'm not having a dig at the Owls in this thread, I just don't think it is very fair on the ST holders who fork out all that money to get nothing back when something like this happens.

If those season ticket holders feel so aggrieved I am sure the club would listen to their plight..personally I think anyone so desperate as to want a refund from the club at this time would be a little bit sad ! Then again when it comes to money some people are !

I'm sure the season ticket holders are in the main not that bothered. I'm sure they would rather see their team play in a packed stadium for the last game of the season than a half empty one.

They did have advantage over the other regulars as they were guaranteed a seat.

to be fair robbie blades do this too. i am not a season ticket holder so buy game to game. i am a super draw member and this season all members were offered a 3 match package for 40 quid scunthorpe, norwich, and bristol
city were the games. i paid for this in febuary but so my daughter could sit with me i paid 36 quid extra (12 quid a game) for her. then when the bristol game came round united decided to let all kids in for nowt. did'nt bother me as i believe in brain wash em er i mean encourage them whilst there young.

Here's a case in point regarding threads going down the tube.
The O.P. posed a legitimate, serious question and voila the next two posts were from Owls supporters( one a moderator) taking the mickey.
To me this was going straight off topic but nothing was said.
Are we all working to the same rules here ? Or does it depend on the colour of the shirt you wear on match days ? :suspect:

When they came out the premiership, they also sold a five year return season ticket to people and it has not happened, more false advertising.

Yes, when we got relegated from the prem.

Did you have some also this season? Remains to be seen whether they will keep their promise ;)

Blimey, your powers of deduction are worse than your ability to stay on topic.
Look elsewhere for your "grass"
I wouldn't lower myself.
And please do me the courtesy of not calling me a piggy as I don't use the term, ever.
If I WAS paranoid I could easily read it as a personal insult.
And, in my opinion, the moderator is biased. :suspect:

I'm entitled to have an opinion. If you don't like it the report button is close by.
I show no favouritism to anyone. If you continue to make it an issue then i'll gladly refer your mod baiting to the relevant people.

I'm entitled to an opinion also and I think that you're biased.
The thread in question definitely went off the posted topic on post #2.
It was a serious question about Wednesday that didn't warrant the flippant responses given.
You changed the topic to United.
You've chastised me for my so-called forum behaviour yet you let that poster (co-incidentally an Owl supporter) off the hook.
Just because I have a differing opinion to yourself doesn't make me a mod baiter.
As a moderator I just think that you should be more even-handed than what you are.
I'm also not impressed with your implied threats when you have all the heavy artillery to hand.

They aren't threats ,just giving someone not involved the opportunity to judge my posts and the unfounded allegations you insist on making. Those alone would have got anyone else a day off in my experienceand thats mod baiting.
Forum behaviour is name calling, swearing etc which is what you were "chastised" for on another thread - directed at me I might add.
You're entitled to any opinion you want - you just can't make unfounded allegations on here or try to ridicule me based on where i live.

As i'm not moderating any thread i post on - i can't be biased.

Please give me examples of the bolded infringements that I supposedly did.
Are you sure that you have the right person.
I don't swear at anyone, I don't insult people and I certainly don't call them names.
If you have examples I would appreciate seeing them.
Thank you.
P.S. If post #2 on this thread needed moderating then who would do it ?

best thing to do is "report post" than another mod would sort it out. if i could refer you to the relegation thread about needing to be savvy to be a mod etc. Not swearing but casting dispersions on my suitability which i found insulting, followed by your tag partner and the sheep comments.

But as long as we're clear that i don't moderate where i post (especially football) I can therefore express an opinion and i can't be biased in my volunteer status we can agree to disagree.

Do you think post #2 needs moderating chuffinel or have you stooped lower than you thought you would on this occasion ? You jump in to threads to back up any Blade viewpoint and complain when things go off topic but you hardly contribute much yourself.. oh other than pointing out spelling mistakes. You need to moderate yourself first, read your posts, your a hypocrit !

Never reported anybody yet but then I have a thick skin.
I also jump into Wednesday threads to back up those posts if I agree with them.
Got to confess that I'm guilty of pointing out the odd spelling mistake but most of the time I grin and bear it.
I could point out your spelling of your instead of you're and hypocrit instead of hypocrite on your post, for example but choose not to do so.
I don't call people hyprocites anyway because I believe it's against forum rules to use personal insults.
Next time that you post without calling Unitedites names please give me a heads up so that I can read it.
Oh, by the way, seeing as how I've got roughly 4 times the posts in less time than you have I guess I must be contributing something.
Have a nice day.

Didn't realize that you don't moderate where you post so stand corrected on that, and apologize accordingly.

Chuffinel, you may not have noticed but the name calling had been set as standard on this forum..mostly by Unitedites, now I have come on here deliberately and dished out what was being served by the resident Blade posters ! Now not so long ago on another thread you jumped in after I had posted something in response to a United fans comment to me and your one line response was to suggest that the forum would be better off without my comments ! Oh and your hypocrisy has come through again with your spelling comments !
I will willingly discuss any topic football or otherwise on this forum with reason and courtesy but until others can do so I'll mix it with the best or worst of them..you included !

Season ticket holders always get priorety for away games and alot of them dont even go, so is this fare on the people who go to most matches but dont have a season ticket yet want to go to the away games but cant cos of season ticket holders. It works both ways so dont even go there, what is it with united fans been obsessed with wednesday its same on owlstalk website theres nearly as many piggys than there is owls fans :hihi:

i'm sorry for not realising youre so sensitive it was a joke. its what yorkshire people call people from derbyshire and what lancashire people sing to yorkshire people. as i am confident that i am not realy attracted to sheep (well most of them) it does'nt bother me. once again sorry for upsetting you.

I couldn't be bothered to report it, and it was aimed at me, so i did delete it.
I'm not from Derbyshire, i just happen to live here.
Apologies accepted and offered.
