We have recently been visited by one male and one female duck. They have decided to take up residence on our pond and quacking at my cat Stanley, much to his disgust!

We only moved into our house in December last year and I understand from our neighbours that the ducks have come the last couple of years also around this time.

They are very entertaining and quite cheeky as they come quacking up to the back door!

I don't want to encourage them as they are wild so am inclined to leave them be. Is this the right thing to do - what do others think?

I would leave them be, as you say they are wild. We have a visiting pair at our caravan site in Skegness, they have come every year for the last 4 years, they stay for about two months and then move on. One lady feeds them with sweetcorn, bread is bad for them apparently so perhaps thats the attraction!

If they come to the door quacking, I guess they used to be fed by previous house occupants.

I wonder if they will continue visiting if they don't get food I suspect they might be used to?

I bet the duck/cat 'discussions' can be quite amusing! :)
