12 week old female rabbit lives with very friendly 2yr old male who had castration 5 weeks ago. I introduced him to his new companion straight after operation so she could be pregnant. We have handled her loads since she was a baby and lives a very happy life in large hutch with plenty of garden to roam. She grunts at me and my children as well as biting and scratching us, very aggressive! help what can I do???

Why did you introduce them knowing she could get pregnant? She is far too young to kindle :(

When was her last health check....pain and illness can cause aggression in rabbits. Has she been plucking fur? Is she just possesive of her hutch and run?

I never thought she could get pregnant once he had his operation, she has been plucking fur and has made a nest. She has the run of the garden and the kitchen area, when we go near her to stroke thats when the aggression starts. So a trip to the vets then is needed

Due to her age its highly unlike that 1 she is pregnant and 2 that she will go full term. Rabbit pregnancy averages 31 days.

Its highly likely however that she is having a phantom pregnancy in relation to the bucks advances and the time of the year. This will result in aggression and nest building and sometimes even the production of milk much like in a true pregnancy.

I would however split them and keep them apart until such time that she has reached maturity and been speyed....to prevent fighting in future.
