ive just bought a kingston 2gb ram to upgrade my laptop to 4gb from 3gb and on the vista index score nothing has altered and the speed is pretty much the same, should i see a big difference or not, i have the sony vaio nr21z with the t8100 (2.1) core 2 duo processor and 250gb hdd, i do a lot of multitasking thats the reason for upgrade. thanks
If you are using 32bit Vista then when you get over 3gb you may find not all of the memory is usable. 4gb is the theoretical limit but often you will find that some of the address space is used up elsewhere. So you may not actually have any more memory available for Vista to use.
Also I don't think the score takes memory into account as unless you already have lots running it wont make too much any difference to the speed of the computer.

thanks cynic, ive just been informed that running 32bit vista wont make much difference over 2gb ram as it will see it as single ram and not ddr, gutted :hihi:

Depending on the chipset in the laptop it may not see over 3Gb. I know the older apple macbooks only see 3Gb. Remember that you may lose some for the graphics memory space also
