Apparently, boys pick it up from their fathers, and girls from their mums.
RECKLESS drivers pick up their antisocial motoring habits from their parent of the same sex, according to a survey of Israeli drivers. So mothers should drive with particular care when with daughters, and dads may be to blame for their boy-racer sons.
So - what do we think of this? Personally (being male) my mum took me for my first driving lesson, and refused to give me another one, my dad took me for my rest (i had an instructor as well, took 13 hours I believe before I took and passed my test).
just wanted to add this Boys have a much greater affinity for speed than girls and are more likely to condone traffic violations," he adds
tell us something we didn't know :D
At the time that I passed my test neither my mam nor my dad drove so who should I blame it on?
The only thing I can think of, its the fault of Bodie and Doyle, as they were my Capri driving heros.
A couple of years ago though my other half said something which made me relize that my diving was shocking so I joined the Institute of Advanced Motorist's and after some tuition with them I took my advanced test with a retired police driver. The best thing I ever done in a car, I think it should be compulsory.
But when it snows I still look for a empty car park so I can spin it backwards and pull a few handbrake turns.
Firstly who dosn't?
And secondly, for a few moments my teenager thinks Im cool because I can do a "J" turn in a people carrier........its not a Capri though.......*sobs*

I thought of this too, my partners mum doesn't drive, so in that case I guess you make your own bad habits.
Ermm, well, I'd recommend the AIM as well, although I'd also say that they are rather hypocritical. I joined after being pulled for speeding, thinking that maybe I should improve my dirving. And after telling them, they kicked me out... despite that being before a court appearance, and thus being presumed innocent.... anyway, that's my personal experience.
As to who doesn't, most people, but that's more snow for you and me right?
That's not true in oz both sexes have a lead right foot ,both tail gate and cut you off. So a girl taught by a rev head mother is going to be a rev head. And a guy taught by a slow driving father is going to be a rev head.lol

It has to be said years ago I think from what I've heard they did have a bit of an attitude.
Its not like that so much now.
As for kicking you out there are two things here.
1 it depends on how many points you have on your licence. Any more than six and you're out anyway.
2. The group take a very dim view of people who join just before a court case. People in the past have joined the course hoping that when they get to court the magistrate will take in to account that they are trying to improve their driving skill by becoming a member of I.A.M. Just after the case is heard they drop out and the group has just been used for the individual gain.
Im not saying this was YOUR intention Im just giving a possible answer to why they might had suspended your membership.
I've said though right from the begining that the six point rule is wrong. Some of the people out there that need a driving skills course the most have more than six point's and this barrs them from joining.
There's a bloke at our works who has wriiten off a van and had been disquaified in the past etc and he was in need of help but the I.A.M wouldn't touch him. Now wheres the sense in that!
I must be an exception to the rule then. I am one of these many drivers who will go a little over the speed limit but not ridiculously so. 35-40mph on a 30mph main road for example.
Dad on the other hand is a stickler for the speed limit and sticks to it at all times. There'll always be exceptions to the rule though I guess.
My mum didn't drive since being involved in a serious car accident - not her fault I hasten to add she was a passenger but it put her off.
My Dad was an annoying stick rigidly to the speed limit whilst wearing a flat capkind of man!
I guess my driving has changed because of driving to London every other week for 3 yrs. They drive like maniacs down there but now I no longer do that trip my driving has calmed down.
I also pick up habits from my partner especially the verbal!
