LAUNCH OF CONCORD ALLSTARS
For local young people aged between 8 and 12 years, Concord Drum & Bugle Corps is about to offer a unique opportunity to learn to play brass and percussion musical instruments and to learn to perform to the very highest standards.
The CONCORD ALLSTARS is for both boys and girls and will meet regularly on Saturday mornings as above. No previous musical experience is required and there are no auditions - everyone who attends will be taught to play. All instruments, equipment and tuition will be provided free of charge. There is a team of very experienced volunteer instructors who are expert at encouraging young people to play very quickly. In addition to brass and percussion players we are also looking for youngsters who enjoy dance and would like to learn to handle flags as part of an auxiliary display group.
There are additional benefits to young people who learn to play musical instruments - many recent studies worldwide have shown that children who study music learn to be more ordered and logical in their thinking, make decisions more quickly and improve their self-discipline and self-respect. In almost all cases children studying music achieve higher scores in their academic subjects. Through learning music in a group situation they also learn to work co-operatively as part of a team and to help others.
The accent of the new group is very firmly on fun and all those interested (children and parents) are invited along to the Launch Day on Saturday 3rd May at 10.00 am to meet the team, try the instruments and learn more about the opportunities we will provide.
