Give em a wave  It will make their day.

Otherwise drag the tv/computer into the kitchen and get settled for a night inbetween the crockery :)

It happens to me too. Neighbours all 5 of them stare straight in my lounge window when they come up the drive. Makes me so angry. It's downright rude. PS I hate nets.

It's a fairly natural reaction if you're walking past. Something/someone moves out of the corner of your eye, and you're automatically drawn to it.

You'll have your nets back up shortly, so don't get too het up

They might just be looking at their own reflections! I used to get annoyed at a woman who walked past my house every day, staring in, til I walked past the window myself and realised that you couldn't actually see in but you got a great full length view of yourself! :D

There was a film years ago, Hayley Mills was in it where a fabulous house was built with one way glass in the windows. I thought this was a terrific idea and wonder why it has never caught on. Imagine being able to look out without anyone seeing in.

It's natural curiosity and nosiness, I'm afraid! If I pass a house without nets, I can't resist having a quick peek

I hate nets, but luckily don't need them, as my house is higher than the road and so the only people who can see in are the ones on the top deck of the buses! I sometimes give them a little wave if I'm looking out of the window when one goes past. :hihi:

An architect offered to design a house for the Greek philosopher Plato, such that no-one could see into it. Plato replied that he had nothing to hide, and asked for a house into which everyone could see.

I don't care who looks into my house..........because only a giraffe could possibly have a neck long enough. lol. We are on a hill and as such are totally protected from gazing eyes. I could dance starkers in our lounge and nobody could see me. Having said that.......I understand the natural urges of folk to "look", and I certainly wouldn't take offense if anybody chose to look in my direction. If they stopped and stared then that might be a bit of a different kettle of fish......but a passing glance is just that. It is called human nature and we will regret the day that we wipe that out.

Hello laughalot01. :)

No-one seems to have given you the most obvious solution. :)

Buy another pair of curtains to put up when your others are in the wash; :)

And I thought you were a good Yorkshireman! But you can't be, if you come up with suggestions of such extravagance.

Anyway, the best thing to do - and the easiest way to dry net curtains - is just to hang them up at the window as soon as they come out of the washing machine. They dry very quickly, all the creases drop out and you don't have naked windows and peering people to cope with.

my house is set back from the road so i don't get it really, also my living rooms on the back of the house anyway, i don't know why more houses aren't built this way

:blush:I have to admit that sometimes I can't help glancing in houses as I'm going past. I don't do it on purpose though.

Is it because some sort of bizar Satanic rituals are being carried out with such as sacrificing a goat in the centre of a pentangle?

reminds me of my friend who lived n the third floor of some very nice flats looking over countryside, she was always wandering around stalkers taking full advantage of her location. After a hard night on the booze she woke feeling particulal;y grotty and jumped into the shower, after she laid on her bed hoping to recover .... and fell asleep without a stitch on, she woke several hours later to find a 'post card' shoved through her letter box which read 'your window cleaner has called'

What do you think you are doing staring out at people anyway! Some people are so nosey... I bet everyone walking past is just looking in thinking it odd and rude that someone is in there staring out at them! ;) :P

I have to confess, on lonely dog walks I often catch myself peering through people's windows. I'm just curious to see how other people personalise their space, it's not a jealousy thing, although I have pinched ideas for my own house!

My Sister loves it when winter nights set in. She takes the dog out after tea when its dark and everyones lights are on just so she can have a nosey. :hihi::hihi:

All I can say is that you will get used to it.
I had net curtains when I first moved into my place with it's lounge window right on the pavement. But after a few years, I know all the neighbours to speak to and I took them down, and I now sit confidently in my front lounge, anybody wants to stand and stare at me that's fine. If they are there for more than 10 minutes I'll go and see if I can sell them a cup of tea.
