Heyesey 27-04-2008, 15:17 It's been that way for what ... ten years now? I've about given up watching it, apart from the start. I imagine a highlights programme nowadays would show the start, then - barring accidents - nothing until the first round of pit stops began. daftlad 27-04-2008, 15:23 i generally find it more exciting going for a dump than watching Formula 1 mholey 27-04-2008, 15:28 I love the F1. I can see why people are discouraged by it at times though. There is more to it than overtaking though. There are lots of tactics involved which I enjoy seeing and learning about. Bikertec 27-04-2008, 20:25 I watched gp2 on tv yesterday that was a lot better.;) Ally68 27-04-2008, 20:27 Formula 1 interested me around the time Schumacher and Hill but when they started messing around with points deductions to make it more intesting they lost me. Still look to see how Hamilton is doing but it's very rare that I watch a race. f1freak 28-04-2008, 10:32 Not much overtaking available at Barcelona, alot of down force... I love F1 one but ITV are driving me mad ..Brundle especially ...Got to say im not a fan of Hammie and thats the only name we ever hear out of his gob!! A few yrs ago we had Button this Button that now they hardly ever mention him.( poor lad) Not everyone in Britain supports a british driver ( although i did when Irvine was around) Like saying everyone that lives in Sheffield supports a sheff footie team..Im afraid whether we should do or not, we dont. Lets hear about other drivers not just bloody HAMMIE all the time . mholey 28-04-2008, 11:29 Not much overtaking available at Barcelona, alot of down force... Button got good praise off the commentators on Sunday. f1freak 28-04-2008, 12:33 OO good , im glad ....I must have missed it lol. scottishdude 28-04-2008, 13:10 Only because he got points this time. f1freak 28-04-2008, 14:16 Makes a change to not have had Coulthard as first retirement hehehe!! Always a sure bet there!! pmsl pedro1 28-04-2008, 15:44 So what was the result? I saw the start but had to go out. Heyesey 28-04-2008, 15:47 So what was the result? I saw the start but had to go out. Ferrari-Ferrari-Hamilton. Alonso caught fire, Kovalainen savagely attacked a tyre wall at 140mph. Zaytsev 28-04-2008, 16:03 I used to watch it in the Mansell/Senna/Prost days and when Hill and Schumacher had their tussles now I rather watch a kettle boil, absolutely mind numbingly boring. That's why I now watch MotoGP, World Superbikes and British Superbikes. mholey 28-04-2008, 17:30 Only because he got points this time. Button had a fantastic race on Sunday. There is a lot more to it than "he got points, well done" not wanted 28-04-2008, 18:12 The problem with the Barcelona GP is that all the teams test there several times a year so all the drivers know the track really well. It seems that every year the driver who gets pole position wins the race. Ginner 28-04-2008, 19:04 ...the driver who gets pole position wins the race. A condition that afflicted 11 out of 17 rounds last year. And 14 out of 17 were won by one of the front row cars. Maybe the Prost/Mansell/Senna era would show similar stats, but at least back then the leading protagonists were bang at it with each other. It seems there's little wheel to wheel/nose to tail driving throughout the field these days. Either that or they don't show it further down the field (and I'm talking about the laps leading up to an overtaking manouevre, not just the act itself). Instead we just get lap after lap of processional (albeit technically clean) boredom. Venables 28-04-2008, 20:02 ). Ginner 29-04-2008, 11:11 Go and do the pots or summat then and stop whinging. Nah. I've plumped for the kettle boiling option instead. In the meantime, don't forget to wipe the dribble off your chin as you wake up mid race for the refuelling entertainment. Or maybe the thrill of wondering if Sutil is on a 3 stopper keeps you glued to the screen till the big boys overtake each other in the pit lane? Wonder if the return to slicks next year will make any difference. Not many team personnel seem to think so. Venables 29-04-2008, 11:58 Nah. I've plumped for the kettle boiling option instead.
