I have a number of Joe Scarborough prints one inparticular is numbered one 70/500 and signed by Joe. Anyone know if the signed one is valuable??

I have a Joe Scarborough signed print No.240/500 called Evening Papers at Hillsborough Corner, I was wondering about its value myself.

I'd never heard of this artist until last summer when we were on holiday on Zante island in Greece..in a resort called Tsilivi.

We went into this bar called 'Tizzies' and the guy who own it had a Sheffield Wednesday shirt on - we got chatting and he said he was his son!!!

just a warning to anyone searching for joe scarborough prints as i have, the pat johnson gallery are not authentic prints i bought 4 and had to have a refund. They are very poor quality. There is not a main seller for Joe as most prints are owned by the actual person who has the original piece of art and most prints will have been limited at the time the prints were produced. I sell Joe's prints myself on ebay and do have access to information from Joe so if i can be of help, drop me a line at Breesy476@hotamil.com

Joe Scaborough did actually have prints. My sister used to work for him. Iasked her if you could send me one, and she sent four, courtesy of Joe.

Out of interest, the prints that bear numbers and signatures are 'limited editions' ("limo's") and are more sought after than 'just ordinary' prints... (This applies of course to all artists, not just JS!)
So your 70/500 is the seventieth of a run of five hundred ....
Terry Gorman is another superb Sheffield artist and his prints (and originals if you can get 'em!) are also sought after.

I recently sold a signed Joe Scarborough print on Ebay for £32. This was his 'Come and Play' painting and was around 700/750.

Understand Terry's larger originals can be worth circa £2k these days...
Got a small original and two No1's of limo's myself, plus a signed print of St.Paul's area of London that I think he did for the Yank market only....

I'm in the final stages of writing an academic text, the topic of which will hopefully capture his imagination, and a really small sketch/print for the front cover would be great. Here's hoping..........

Have you tried MO'S shop on Shortridge street [ MOMENTOS] Attercliffe.
he has a wide variety of all prints including George Cunningham's, he even sells frames.

I have a couple of Terry Gorman prints. Bought them, never framed them because when I thought about it they weren't really my thing. One is featuring a football special tram or bus and a star placard. Bought it for o/h as blades were mentioned. He wasnt keen either.

I met him when I was about ten and got him to paint a little man for me and sign it. Cheeky huh?

Annoying thing is I have no idea where it is any more...

Anybody wanting to speak to him should try wandering around the canal basin. He lives on the canal as PaulTansley mentioned in his post. He is very approachable, I met him in a small art gallery once and we were chatting away without me realising who he was at first :huh: !!!

yeah hes a down to earth bloke, me and everyone else in his daughters class (going back a while ) were given a couple of prints, i think they were signed, cant find them for love nor money...shame.

Many, many yeas ago whan I was "young" back in 1988 I ran the Sheffield marathon.

That particular year a Joe Scarborough print was distributed called "The Friendly One."

Anyone know anything about that - don't suppose it's particularly valuable, just curious.

Perhape you are getting a bit mixed up Dougie3. There are two well known Sheffielders by the name Joe Scarborough. One, the artist has (or had) quite a nice house in a posh neighbourhood, the other one, a steelworker/photographer was well known for building a boat out of cement, which ultimately sank. The latter one was from Jamaica, and was a bit eccentric. He's probably the one living aboard a boat.

the joe scarborough i am talking about is the painter of sheffield scences
after his wife passed away he sold is house and moved on to the boat
thats a few years ago
in my eyes he is a fantastic artist

We have 2 prints signed by Joe we were given them on our weddind day as a gift,Joe signed and wished us well on them both and dated the day we got married ,which was 25 years last Sept WE HAVE MATCH OF THE DAY,AND A DAY OUT FROM THE WHITE ROSE,
I be curious to what value these would be ,looking at these post maybe i need to insure them? any advice?
