Hi i work in the Hillsborough Area (i will be based in Hillsborough Children's Centre in a few weeks when it is up and running)
There are lots of different groups in Hillsborough you can look on the ASKSID website to do a postcode search for a list of groups in your area, or i have a 'time table' that i have put together listing all the groups in Hillsborough each day of the week.
I run a Bay Group called Bumps and Beyond at Creswick Street Children’s Centre (just off Langsett Road, behind the Primrose View Tram stop!)
The group runs every Tuesday 1pm-3pm (times are flexible to parents, don’t worry about being late/ leaving early just pop in as you like!)
The group is really laid back and friendly, i provide lots of toy for the babies and chat to parents through out the session, the Centre also has a Toy Library which you can loan toys/ info books/ etc) A local Midwife is also usually at the group providing antenatal and post-natal advice if you want it.
I try to have a group focus at least once a month, i base these around activities/ areas parents have talked about and would like to look into in more detail (for example today we did a focus on Treasure Baskets), its really informal!
PM me if you would like more info about this group or days/ times of other groups in the area.
Hope this helps!

There is a group specifically for under 1's at the Memorial Hall on Forbes Road on a Tuesday morning (think it starts at 10.30 finishes about 12.30 ish - cant remember exactly its been a while since Ive been). Also if you are a breastfeeding mum there is a dropin at the childrens library in Hillsborough Park on a Monday at 10.30 to 12.30 - this was a really nice group with HV's and other breastfeeding mums at hand if you have any questions or problems. Sometimes you can get your baby weighed there too:)

The best one for little babies is a mums and babies group that is on in st johns memorial hall forbes rd. it used to be on a wednesday at ten but i have a feeling its changed to a tuesday if you walked past there is a sign in the window. most of the other groups in hillsborough are for toddlers but this one is for new mums and everyone is lovely, i still see all the mums i met there 3 years ago and we've all had our 2nd babies together. There is also a breastfeeding group at the library in hillborough on a monday morning followed by a pram push around the park. Your HV should be able to tell you more. PM me if you'd like any more info.

Lisa H got there first.lol

Hi nikkid

Congratulations on your little boy. I run a baby signing group nearby in Walkley on Thursday mornings. You can come along with Reece for a free trial session. Babies and toddlers come to the group, ages range from 2 months to around 15 months. Its very relaxed and friendly. All the babies have good fun, and there are plenty of smiles and cups of tea and coffee.:)

There are different groups on different days at the same place - Walkley community centre. Its a great place. I hope you find lots of lovely things to do, and meet some great people.

Hi,

Ask the HV if they run any new mothers groups. I am with Tramways/ Fairlawns & they run one on a rolling programme with a few other surgeries (Dykes Hall Road & Far Lane I think). Even thought I wasn't a First time mum I asked to go on & it was very useful. A good way to meet other mums & also very informative as covered different stuff, baby massage, first aid, weaning, sleep etc.

They recommended the Forbes group.

If you have a car try the Palgrave Childrens centre (Palgrave Road, Parson Cross - just off Halifax Road). They do drop in on a Thursday morning, you can see the HV, have a coffee & do baby massage in their sensory room.

Have you thought of attending a baby group? I run one in Crookes next course starting on Monday 12th May for 4 weeks. If you would like more information see www.freewebs.com/westsheffieldbabymassage . A great way to meet friends for you and your baby and helps with colic, constipation, sleep, teething etc plus is great fun!
