View Full Version : C League Semi Finals
Guderian 22-04-2008, 15:01 Come on, lets get this thread going. LFCMad Paul, where are you?
Predictions?
Am torn tonight - my heart says I want Chelsea to win, head says Pool.
Would rather play Liverpool if Utd got to the final, but would rather lose to Chelsea - if that makes sense!
Am rather fearful of Barcelona tomorrow - Messi and Iniesta should play, and they make a hell of a difference.
laughalot01 22-04-2008, 15:12 come on liverpool im gonna miss it because im working grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:(

Right here Guddy lad :D Crapping myself :|
Champions League - Liverpool are boss!
If we were to lose to Utd in the final, I would rather not even get through the semi's, so yeah Guddy, I know exactly what you mean ;)
Getting really nervous now so i'm gonna go and get some cans, get blindo, and try and watch this football match :D
Good luck tommorow Guddy!
LFCMadPaul 22-04-2008, 16:13 come on liverpool im gonna miss it because im working grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:(
They could pay me a thousand pounds for a night shift tonight ........... and i'd still knock :hihi:
Venables 22-04-2008, 16:30 I have no idea who will progress out of the four, not even an inkling.....If that makes sense
Is it the same Moscow stadium that has the astro-turf pitch for the final?
Agent Gypo 22-04-2008, 16:32 I think and hope we're going to end up with a Man Utd v Liverpool final.

I'm pretty sure it is. Moscow has the excuse that a grass pitch is completely unusable for almost the entire European football season; otherwise the stuff is (and should be) disallowed from top-flight football.
Venables 22-04-2008, 17:01 Just checked on wiki and yes it is the same one. The Luzhniki Stadium, and they are putting in a grass surface for the final.
... and they are putting in a grass surface for the final.
Well that's good. It's one thing letting CSKA play on it in November, rather than a quagmire; but at this time of year, no reason it can't be grass.

I can't work this out - there is always a way.
NEKRO138 22-04-2008, 17:15 Liverpool v Man United in the final I think. Although Man Utd without Vidic might struggle against Henry, Eto'o and Messi.

UEFA ruled out astro for the final when the gave the final to Moscow.
Nothing mentioned about the fact fans have to pay £100 for a Visa to enter Russia.
Goes against the spirit of a EUROPEAN final if you ask me.

Vidic plays. Henry prob doesnt.
Although the Barce fans are quite pleased with that - he hasn't set the Nou Camp alight this year.
LFCMadPaul 22-04-2008, 19:44 Cagey stuff. Very cagey stuff!
Would be alot happier if Liverpool could get another goal :D
the_rudeboy 22-04-2008, 20:44 Would be alot happier if Liverpool could get another goal :DOr even happier if they hadn't conceded one?
Agent Gypo 22-04-2008, 21:00 What a bloody awful game of football.
BasilRathbon 23-04-2008, 09:02 What a bloody awful game of football.
Have to agree. Chelsea spent the entire game hoofing it long to Drogba, Liverpool did the same with Torres and, on the rare occasions the striker won the ball, there was no-one in support as everyone else was hanging back in midfield.
Apparently Liverpool and Chelsea have now met 10 times in the "Champions" League and those games have produced a grand total of.....5 goals.
All those millions spent on supposedly the world's best strikers and between them they score an average of half a goal per game!
Missed Pen after 2 minutes by Ronaldo
D'oh!!!
Whatif wewin 23-04-2008, 19:11 What about John Arne Riise getting himself arrested last night driving on the
M62,
He was heading the wrong way.:)
Agent Gypo 23-04-2008, 20:19 So much for the great entertainers, Barca v Man Utd has been even more drab than the Liverpool game.
scottishdude 24-04-2008, 09:18 Looking more like the Chelsea v Barca final I predicted. ;)
Fivetide 24-04-2008, 09:52 No way, the God Crouch will come off the bench and score the winner at the Bridge, cementing his place in the starting eleven for the final in which he will score a hat-trick. You know it makes sense.
On a serious note (coz Rafa would never start with Crouch) I'm hoping for either Liverpool or United to win, but I'd find it really difficult if they played each other.
Leaving the serious note aside again.... Ideally it would be a draw, go to pens and both teams would score the first five after which Fergie and Rafa would shake hands and call it even.
I think United have got too much for Barca at Old Trafford, and while realistically Chelsea should go through on the back of a 0-0, I'm sticking with the God Crouch prediction.
Looking more like the Chelsea v Barca final I predicted. ;)
why? i think man u did really well last night to hold off a barca side that kept on coming at them (although there passing in the final 3rd was woeful!)
I think it will be a chelsea vs man u final- which means it will be boring!!!!
id LOVE a man u v liverpool final.
Bull Dog 24-04-2008, 14:43 Looking like Man Utd v Chelsea
Would have preffered Man Utd v Liverpool, would have been more open and attacking
Wouldnt be suprised if Barca scored at Old Trafford though
Agent Gypo 01-05-2008, 09:03 Chelsea vs Man Utd for the final then. Would have preferred to see Liverpool there just to have the two rivals, but I suppose it's fitting to have Chelsea in Moscow.
Not only is this the first all English final, but the first time that teams 1st and 2nd in their domestic league have met in the final (in 02/03 Juve were 1st and winners AC Milan were 4th, in 99/00 winners Real Madrid were 4th and Valencia were 3rd).

Do you refer to the league positions of the teams at the time that they met in the final, or the positions they'd finished in the year before, in order to qualify for it?
It's probably a first, either way. Man U. and Chelsea were 1 and 2 at the end of last season, and occupy the same places right now; otherwise, I'd know which one you meant. :D

The league positions at the time of the final is what I meant. Though it could also be league positions of the season before, as that has never happened before either!
