Just wondered if anyone else had had their lead pinched from above the cover over your front door?

We did, I heard a noise and thought next door was getting burgled, jumped out of bed and saw a shadow outside my bedroom window, then thought we were getting burgled so turned on the light and disturbed them, when we looked outside the next day, we realised they had pinched our lead! We have since had it replaced with tar mac stuff which actually looks better.

I walked down the road the other day and noticed that laods of people had had theirs pinched.

Cheeky s*ds!

No it was about 3-4 months ago.

Our next door neighbour reported it.
We live at Southey.

Just thought I'd mention it because I was walking down our road the other day I noticed about 10 houses had also had theirs took

We had ours nicked off the kitchen roof a while ago. Didnt notice until it started raining and ruined the kitchen ceiling.

the police have a leaflet available which lists treatments that can be applied to lead to make it worthless - give them a ring on 220 2020

I know that there was a young man living on Kyle Close (where the flats are) who was nicking Lead & copper & selling it for (what I can only asume to be drugs) (He was very Obviously off his face every time I saw him out).

He was removing the copper from anything that had copper in it by burning the insulation around it to obtain the copper & was setting fires @ 11.30am on communal grassed areas close to private gardens to do this.

After several complaints have been made by residents on Dryden Drive & the community police officer, the afore mentioned young man was evicted a few weeks ago & it seems to have calmed down.

I hope this helps.

just some info for people who have had lead stolen, and dont want to use lead again,
there is a lead substitute available called Ubiflex, not lead, but can be worked in a similar way, expensive but lasts.

We have replaced our flashing with an inexpensive substitute. It looks like a big roll of gaffer tape. Isnt as nice to look at but who goes on top of their kitchen roof on a regular basis? Works a treat too.
