Has anyone heard of a company called MMTel. I wanted to know if anyone has used their rogue dialer protector device before I buy one. While visiting their web site I also sal that they have another product that works with the 18866 service that only charges you 1p per call anywhere in the UK no matter how long you are talking for.
If anyone has bought anything from them please let me know and advise if it is good or not. I am not great at being the first to get my feet wet!
Sceptical me!!!
Am I the only personn in the north of England that has been scammed by a £560 phone bill. Surely I am not. Talk to me someone - Please!!!
How did you overcome this with BT or your carrier?

The 18866 serviece has very good press, and i'm sure the dialer would be fine as i used to use a similar one years ago... the only thing is that £14.99 (mmtel.co.uk) seems a lot to pay just to save the fingers of dialing the buttons... ?
It does but at the same time I have heard of other dial up prefixes and I have four kids. The last thing that I need is the headache of them blasting me for "whats that number again" or i dialed it wrong. It seems like an investment or headache reduction.
Other than that would you recommend it.
What about the dial-up scan or rogue dialers that I have been hearing about. Where a virus infects a PC and dials premium rate or international numbers and I have heard of some people with phone bills in the£,000s and £00's.
I know that they are seperate related issues but some advise may be of great benefit to me.

cant u get broadband? then u wont get them neways
Thanks for that. Looking after the pennies at the moment and the dial up access is a lot cheaper!
I trhink that I will get the prefix dialer from MMTel for the time being and hoep that I will not get hit again. Lightening nevers strikes twice I understand!

Some BB customers still get scammed by the premium rate numbers thing...as they leave their normal 'modem' plugged into the phone socket even when on bb - as the premium dialler, dials silently (most turn off the ringer) they get nailed...
Some customers have been known to try to blame their ISP but its their equipment that dials the numbers - its hardly the ISP's fault if they ignore the advice given when setting up is it?
I do think that you are right. Prevention is the mest measure.
I think I will go to the MMTel website again and oder their Modem Protector. I would rather be safe than sorry. I have no idea how I can pay for additioanl phoen charges though!!
