View Full Version : Do you care what your children wear
cheeky_gee 24-03-2005, 11:18 do you care what clothes your children wear ?
after all it is them who is wearing them ,not you
obviously you should have some say in in it.but at the end of the day it isnt you who wears the clothes so what does it matter.
if you agree that you should choose your childrens clothes put a thumbs up:thumbsup:
if you think that its them that is wearing them so they can choose put a clap at the end of your message:clap:
if in between put a scratching head :loopy:
x_LoUiSe_x 24-03-2005, 11:31 i chose what my kid wears she doesnt have any say in the matter!
shes only 18 months old though lol
but i reckon they can wear what they like, to a point of course, id never let her walk outta the house naked! lol
My 8 year old son has absolutely no interest in the clothes he wears so I have to choose - I'm sure that will change in a few years time though!
My 4 year old daughter loves to choose her own clothes so I let her the majority of the time - have to put my foot down sometimes though otherwise she would end up going to nursery in her Princess Annalise dress every day!!!

Well Cheekygee: I think that an any child below the age of 16 is too young to get their belly button pierced!!!
But its definately a  from me. YOU CHOOSE!!! LOL
Really being serious now....
I think its really cute when young kids go to school in dressing up clothes (frilly dresses) and it gives them confidence.

They reach an age where they decide, depends on their sex and maturity.
My son, he`s 16 and where`s what he wants and has done for 4 years or so, my daughter well I have the final say and she is 11.
Some mothers at my daughters school allow there 10 and 11 year olds to wear short skirts and small revealing tops. I choose not to as my daughter is still a child at 11, and it will send the wrong signals to boys.
sparklesista 24-03-2005, 13:02  You choose until there old enough themselves :)
msbehavin 24-03-2005, 14:03 I think Cheeky Gee should have been doing something much more constructive in her time off ill at home !! (muses over taking plug off computer).
I believe parents should have a say in what their kids wear if they are paying for them. I also think it is difficult for kids sometimes to see that certain things dont suit them and want to follw the expensive fashions or match their peers dress sense.
Of course if kids such as Cheeky Gee want to start buying their own clothes then they can always start doing jobs around the house such as walking the dogs, washing the car etc to earn the money to have that fashion independence!;)
cheeky_gee 24-03-2005, 15:05 i think that piercings look nice on at least y8s any younger and they look awful.i have now noticed this.thank you for all your posts.keep them coming.
cheeky_gee 24-03-2005, 15:09 i have now seen this technophobe.maybe later??????
cheeky_gee 24-03-2005, 15:14 well msbehavin if its their spending money why cant they wear what they want if they're paying for it with their own spending money and if it looks bad on them its their fault .its their money they have wasted and it is them who will look embarrased.but i can see where your coming from.you have to be seen with these children .but you can always pretend that you dont know them .lol
cheeky_gee 24-03-2005, 15:16 so technophobe .did your mother like you to wear your yellow frilly dressing up dress.or did she draw the line on alot of things
cheeky_gee 24-03-2005, 15:20 replying to cake,i know someone very close to me that in nursery every playtime they used to race to the dressing up box and digged deep till she found the yellow frily princess dress she loved so dearly .eh technophobe .i know wat you mean

As long as they didn't start wearing burberry, I think I'd let my kids, if I had any of course, wear what they wanted.... No burberry though, no son or daughter of mine is dressing in chav wear!

Oh give it a rest... yawn
karenjane39 24-03-2005, 15:52 I can't stand to see toddlers dressed in designer labels, obviously their parent's choice, not theirs. It makes them look like fashion accessories of the parents.
Slightly off topic but it's the same with jewellery, tiny tots dripping in gold!!! I was once in Wilkinsons and this kid of about 2 or 3 had a thick gold chain holding it's dummy in place, how common is that?!!!
msbehavin 24-03-2005, 15:56 Cheeky Gee said it cos she is blonde Sparkle - unfortunately MY blonde!!! Have kicked her off computer now to give us all a bit of a rest!! She is lovely tho!!! (to young for a forum meet, thankfully!!)
cheeky_gee 24-03-2005, 17:29 lol
totally agree
no burberry
no chavs allowed in my family
cheeky_gee 24-03-2005, 17:34 yes your avatar .love it
sparklesista 25-03-2005, 04:49 Lol! How old are you cheeky_gee?
My 3 sons have never been really interested in clothes.
I remember when the eldest two were younger having to force them to try things on in the shops as they were not interested at all and would try to get out of it .
I still sometimes get my 16 and 18 year old some of their stuff myself, as theyve sometimes no interest.
My eldest sometimes gets clothes out of his wages but mostly he buys electrical stuff -amps and things for the band etc.
They nearly always trust my judgement though and nearly all the clothes ive got them, they have liked.
I am still getting things like boxershorts and socks as they just wont get them.
Does anyone else have this problem with boys.
cheeky_gee 25-03-2005, 15:47 lol
