Now that it has been established that Fergie is sackable and will be under increased pressure next season.

Who do you think will take over? Fergie is backing Roy Keane.

I can't see them giving Keano the job with no experience.

Many think that Martin O'Neill is holding out for the job.

Never in a million years do I want to see Martin O'Neill at the helm!
Not now - not ever.

We will need one of the best managers in the world at MU.. its going to either be Carlos Quieroz or someone from abroad.

And the only people I would want at MU other than Quieroz would be:

a* Marcello Lippi
b* Fabio Cappello
c* Ottmar Hitzfeld

I wouldn't mind having a certain Mr Cantona as the assistant manager and maybe after a few years becoming manager.
As for next manager i'm not sure, I think anyone would struggle now competing with Chelsea's money

Why would you want Quieroz as manager?

He's achieved nothing as a coach, and despite having a team consisting of Raul, Zidane, Beckham, Figo etc failed to make any sort of impact with one of the worlds biggest clubs.

I predict it will be Sven at Old Trafford when the Red Devils part company with Fergie.

Or possibly Chris Turner.

I don't expect much from them if Sven manages to take control. I bet some people are wishing he would have got the Chelsea job now and perhaps Chelsea wouldn't be in the dominant position that they are.

Martin O' Neill .... no no no ... please stop!
Never in a million and one years now and this goes for SG Eriksson as well.

We need an international manager.. someone with world class pedigree- and martin o'neill has not got that, Sven has it but I dont think he would do a good job at OT.

Whoever gets the job after alex has gone-- its going to be a tough job!

I've gone for Quieroz because he used to be Real Madrid manager and a few years ago- the manager of Portugal.

The guy knows what he is doing and he apparently has the respect in the dressing room.. mind you- I wouldnt mind big Eric coming back in some role even if its just coaching the kids or something like that.

But spectacularly managed to win nothing in charge at Real Madrid, despite having one of the best set of players in the world.

He didn't really do much with Portugal either.

Ah but the guy did not really have that much time though - as so many managers have found out - at Real Madrid though did he?

Portugal - I cant really comment on.. as I did not see much of him as Portugal boss unfortunately.

No excuse really in modern football, certainly not when vast sums of money are being spent.

Although I agree the majority of sides need time to settle and build, top clubs like Madrid really should do better when they spend vast sums of cash and already have a great set of players in place.

Jose Mourinho has managed ok.

I also think it'll be Carlos Queiroz who takes over after Sir Alex. Not that I think he's the most appropriate since he didn't do so well at Real, but he wasn't exactly given much time though. I think the Board might be happy with him having been "groomed" by Sir Alex and he's already worked with the players and other staff at United.

Other than that I've no idea. Martin O'Neil continues to be mentioned as a possibility but who knows.

I doubt Eriksson would be a popular choice with United fans. His style of play is too defensive.

I wouldn't mind seeing Otmar Hitzfeld come to United since he's won the European Cup twice and that's the sort of standard we need to be looking at after Sir Alex.

But personally I still want Sir Alex to stay.

I don't see why Martin O'Neill would be such a bad choice, but Man Utd wouldn't go far wrong with someone like Otmar Hitzfeld, Fabio Capello, Frank Rijkaard or perhaps even Didier Deschamps.

Personally I think it they will end up with Steve Bruce, Martin O'Neill or David O'Leary. None of whom will be given a fair crack at the whip.

Whoever takes the job though is going to have to live up to Fergusons achievements. This has been a problem at Man Utd before, where it has taken years to find worthy successors to great managers.

I would say at the minute its a toss up between:

* Carlos Quieroz
* Ottmar Hitzfeld
* Fabio Capello
* Marcello Lippi

Any of them would do it for me- Marcello in particular for me!

I just hope we dont just throw any old cack into the job
ie: Keegan.

Personally I don't mind Martin O'Neil, I think he's alright. But I'd prefer the likes of Hiztfeld, Capello or Lippi.

I don't think Steve Bruce or David O'Leary would be given the job. I can't imagine the Board would think that Steve has enough experience yet. I know you have to have the jobs to get the experience but I think they'd want to see him managing a team that regularly gets into Europe before he'd be considered for the job. Same for O'Leary. God help us if we got O'Leary, I can't stand him!

I hadn't thought of Deschamps, he could be alright...

I'm certainly not looking forward to the day when Sir Alex leaves United. It definitely will be a tough job to take on after him and there's surely going to be a period of change when someone new comes in. There's going to be the inevitable personality clashes with some of the players or some will fall out of favour and move on. Also will the new Manager want to bring in his own Assistant Manager and other staff? Which will mean further changes as staff leave the club as well.

No, I'm not looking forward to it. :sad:
