Inspired by Cosywolf wanting to do a spot of Rock Karaoke at the next forum meet  I thought I'd open the gauntlet to y'all!

Do you like Karaoke?

Would you go for a karaoke evening at yer local pub?

Do you think karaoke should be banned and leave it up to the professionals to sing?

Do you own a Karaoke machine?

Have you ever sung on karaoke?

Karaoke is for lame people who can't sing. I have done it several times myself but only when in extreme states of inebriation. Call me sad but I prefer I quiz night!!

I must say, I'm a HUGE fan of Karaoke.

I have sang on Karaoke many times, but I don't own one of the machines. It just wouldn't get used.

I used to sing on Karaoke when working in the states, and that was soooooooooooooo much fun.

Rock on!

I have never done karaoke. I can't sing and would not inflict my voice on anyone.

I too prefer quiz nights, I'm a sad quiz addict.

Karaoke is pretty tacky, maybe the fact that it's confined to, a) rough council estate pubs, b) ageing working men's clubs that gives me that opinion of it  Also, wasn't it a product of the late 80s, early 90s and should be laid to rest?

I dont live on a 'Council Estate' and my local Boozer has it!
And the boozer aint a workin mens club!

You can't ban it as it'll just drive it underground. Second thoughts, ban it.

Karaoke has had its day, but it is still a laff.

There is a new craze out now in pubs and clubs, you get up on stage and tell a humourous story, it doesn't have to be true but could be topical or about a news event.

its called Karajokey........

Boom Boom

ps Sick joke here........

What's the difference between Johnny Cash and Robert Palmer?

If you wish to refrain from reading this joke and keep a good impression of mikey do not scroll down.

DB, remind me never to go out drinking with you!

Carlwarker

It's just a 'modern' extension of the old pub piano and 'local' singers on Saturday and Sunday evenings - we tended to (had to) make our own entertainment in 'the good old days'.

And many a famous singer started that way, then onto the local clubs etc.

DaBouncer

Hey... you know it'd be fun dude!

cosywolf

I would like to state for the record that slander has been committed...or is it libel? Anyway, I have never, am not now, nor ever will be a 'Karaoke Queen'.
DB is however now on the endangered species list. At least he will be able to sing us a nice swan song as he flies towards the light.

Cosywolf, the first step towards recovery is to admit your addiction.

Repeat after me... "My name is Cosywolf and I am a karaokiholic."

Karaoke actually means 'Empty Orchestra' in Japanese.

I don't mind doing it, but hate doing it in front of friends.
Rock songs should not be sung on karaoke.

Someone bought me a karaoke machine once in the hope that I'd set up a karaoke session in the pub.......it didn't happen. Not to rock music thank you!

How about an air guitar competition then?

- now that NEEDS rock music.

Noooooooooooooooooooo!

I hate Karaoke

This may have something to do with the fact that when I was a nipper at Uni I did 'Let It Be' with a mate and we got bottled off - literally!
That was in a pub on Leopold Street that you had to go down some steps to get to, the name of which escapes me..

I think karaoke is a good thing. People should be able to sing if they like, afterall, it is a free world (subject to status, ask for written details).

In some ways I blame Karaoke for the "noise" inflicted on TV audiences every Saturday night on Fame Academy and Pop Idol, especially Pop Idol given the ****eness of the majority of the wannabes who subject themselves to the humiliation of Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell's comments every week.

FA was good though, that Carolynne who won it last night, she's reet nice IMO, and very talented.

DaBouncer

I wanted Alex to win FA!:(

Rich

Alex was good, but looks wise she was a dog compared to Carolynne, and in this day and age it's all very well having talent but if you've a face like the back end of the 52 from Crookes on a Friday night you've no chance.

errrrrrrrrrm.... Alex DID win it carolynne wasnt even in the final 2.

I have always wanted to have a good Karaok? Is that the word.
But I have always been too scared to show myself up. Mind you, I have seen good and bad karaoke, AND I have seen good and bad professional musicians too, so what's the difference? And, to my tastes, I hate some of the music that YOU like, and think it is trash. So where does that leave us? I have voted for it. Let the little people have a go. Even of they do come from Crookes.
:D

I love Karaoke. I used to go to a pub to do it every week when I lived in London, and won a few bottles of bubbly. It's a laugh, a good release. It's not harming anyone, if you don't like it, don't come along, simple as!

I also have karaoke in my house and me and my friends get together every now and again and have a good old sess....much alcohol is consumed and it's such fun.
What makes me laugh is the ones who keep saying "i'm not doing it, no way, never catch me, hate it", they are the ones that at the end of the night you can't get them off it, and they won't let anyone else have a go!!!

Can't vote, there are too many options I could go for!
