just wondering where would be good places to mention a Sheffield related site? I want to get people knowing about my singles site...

the only other forums and such I can think of are things like Sheff United and Wesnesday forums? Steelers forum? but I dont think I should join them just to mention my site...

any other suggestions? or anyone members of such forums that are single and want to mention the site for me? ;) the more interest there is and more members join the better for all us single people! :D

I'm not single so will not be joining up but I just had a quick look and think it's a great idea. It saves people paying silly amounts of money to join agencies and answer personal ads. :thumbsup:

If you get it listed high up on Google etc I think it will do well.

just seen ur singles site and also sent it off to my mates as we was on about this the other day if on the web they was a singles site just to meet people in sheffield or south yourkshire area.

looks brill and i sign up,never done this kind of thing befor but hey thort i give it a go.. and also my mates goin to look at it later today and sign up to it too.

Out of curiosity I had a look at your site and was most impressed.

I don't believe thats an option unfornatly, type anything like "sheffield singles" or "sheffiend dating" or anything along those lines and there are LOADS of stupid bogus sites, or ones where you pay like £100 a year :?

my only option is really word of mouth and getting people to mention it on local S Yorkshire sites, thats why I'm asking if people can think of any, or are members of any that don't mind mentioning for me :)

yeah i was thinking that Nomme... I think the closest catagory is probably "Local Clubs & Societies" ? because I guess its a place to meet other people in a similar situation?

If you put a link page on your site you can offer some mutual linkage with other people sites from here too.

msn groups, join anything related and post ur links...then get out. post on anything that is sheffield related. bung it in the admag? tiz free..... maybe even put on a ebay auction :)

im very much single...but i doubt id join....the ratio will prob end up 100 guys to 5 girls and i cant be arsed with that

try a hit counter, spread the word on forums (like this one) and ALWAYS put your URL after leaving posts. this will be crawled by robots in the near future and will help the cause. i have been using
www.statcounter.com a hidden statcounter that generates robots for google. my site has had regular top ten pages on google from it.

If you're looking for a hand with IPB I can help you out... I've also got a lifetime license invested in a site that I'm thinking of pulling out of, if I pull out then you could use that license to allow you to upgrade to the latest version of the software (I wouldn't just pull out as soon as you've upgraded don't worry!) and if you were serious about the linking I could probably fund a purchase of IPS TSL after Easter?

ugh, just been messing around with the PHP and CSS files today... trying to get things how I want them, got a little affiliates section done with some mod I found, although I've had to tweak the output a little...

currently trying to find the file that ouputs the HTML for the profile's section, I want to amend the bit where you input your MSN address as the limit is 30 chars for the edit box, I've increased the size of the field on the database but cant find the HTML to allow you to enter more in the edit box... only doing this cus my MSN address is longer and I know some other people have long address too :?

few more little things need tweaking with the CSS files I think and then I'm done... just fixed a bug that made IE display the title section wrong... man I love the internet :D

can you pass on the license? isn't it only valid for a particular domain? and aren't those things expensive? :? dont want you out of pocket!

just folked out like £7 for a new domain, once it kicks in and I've ****** around with my .htaccess file you should be able to access the forum via www.sheffsingles.co.uk :D

wahoo www.sheffsingles.co.uk is now fully working and set-up, after many hours of messing around and talking to my web-host :D Hook, still waiting for you to reply to my PM mate :)
