Loads of threads get hijacked by people after students (usually new posters) have asked for help. If there were a group for this (and of course the newbies would be told their thread had been moved), they wouldn't have to wade through facetious comments, and may even get higher quality responses.

I know they'd have a smaller audience, but it could well be more responsive.

We would prefer them to be able to discuss their research in the most relevant forum. If they are getting hijacked then we appeal to the more experienced users to report the posts to the moderating team so they can step in before things get out of hand. Thanks.
