View Full Version : Apartment Accomodation parmy 01-03-2003, 12:26 Im looking for a list of all the new developments of accomodation being built in Sheffield City Centre. Could anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance... Andy 01-03-2003, 18:37 Not a comprehensive list, but here are a couple: City Wharf Sheffield http://www.citywharfsheffield.com Smithfield Appartments http://www.smithfieldapartments.co.uk/ sambaman 06-03-2003, 15:46 Anyone know the name of the apartments situated behind the Cavendish are called? Help would be much appreciated. Cheers parmy 06-03-2003, 19:37 Portland Tower i think... Geoff 06-03-2003, 21:25 Aye, that's right it's called Portland Tower http://homepages.shu.ac.uk/~aasweet2/Recent%20development.html There is also the £35m(!) West One on the other side of West Street http://www.mjgleeson.com/housing/case_histories/case_west_one.php also... check out http://www.devonshiregreen.com/ haroonuk 08-06-2003, 16:39 hi, if you ind oput about new development in sheffield then drop me a line as well haroonuk@yahoo.co.uk PaulTansley 08-06-2003, 17:23 There are some new arpartments on West street opposite the City Hall tram stop. They are not quite finished yet but they were taking the outside csaffold down just last night. Heard there not cheap, but with watching the work thats gone into them for the last 18 month i,m not suprised. Andy 08-06-2003, 19:14 Question is, who is going to buy these appartments? Surley if you had the sort of money they're charging, you'd want to live in a nice suburb, not in the city centre with all the noise, pollution and crime that it brings. Yes to true i would do the same, 100k would buy a good view in the country but the question was specifically accomadation in the City Centre. Believe it or not these apartments are popular and quickly snapped up. t020 08-06-2003, 22:55 Originally posted by "Andy" Question is, who is going to buy these appartments? I couldn't agree more, see the thread on the subject that i created: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1444 8) parmy 09-06-2003, 13:13 Does any body know of any private landlords who have purchased any of these apartements, and are wanting to let them out? David 09-06-2003, 15:30 Me! I've bought a 1 bed on the second floor in the West Point development (opposite the City Hall tram stop). Its going to be finished in a few weeks and if thats what your looking for drop us a line on this forum! Andy 09-06-2003, 17:47 Out of interest David, roughly how much rent will you be charging per month? Not being nosey, I'm just curious. Geoff 09-06-2003, 18:42 Originally posted by "Andy" Not being nosey, I'm just curious. There is a difference? (j/k) Andy 09-06-2003, 21:18 curious is more polite than nosey :p David 10-06-2003, 08:29 I would say curious not nosey!! As it is a small 1 bed flat I think I'll pitch it in at £475 - £500 per month, probably closer to £475 though. It has no parking as parking spaces were £17500 each!!!! And they are all sold out!!!!! Still a lot cheaper than other flats in town though!! E-Man Groovin 10-06-2003, 13:55 Originally posted by "David" I would say curious not nosey!! I'd rather pay that than £500 for a small one bed with no parking. DaBouncer 10-06-2003, 13:58 Originally posted by "E-Man Groovin" Balls. Ahem... maybe an edit of the above would be better e-man!!! If only for your reputation than anything else. steelblade 10-06-2003, 14:00 I can't understand why anyone would want to splash out £650 per month for a property that isn't theirs. It seems utter madness to me. t020 10-06-2003, 14:01 Indeed. You could be paying that a month into a mortgage and at least you'll have something to show for it. E-Man Groovin 10-06-2003, 14:02 Erm... because they can. Besides, I'm sharing so I only pay half. I considered that very cheap compared to what you pay where I come from. Like negative equity if the market goes tits up, but that's another argument. Yes you are right but I may only be in Sheffield temporarily that's why I chose to rent. DaBouncer 10-06-2003, 14:23 As being a very nice young chap! :D steelblade 10-06-2003, 14:27 I totally agree with renting at the moment instead of buying, but £650 per month? That's a total pee take. You could get a 3 bed house in hillsborough for £400. DaBouncer 10-06-2003, 14:30 Originally posted by "steelblade" I totally agree with renting at the moment instead of buying, but £650 per month? That's a total pee take. You could get a 3 bed house in hillsborough for £400. It all depends on Location Location Location really. You pay for the privaledge. The same way you can't expect to buy a Thomas Burberry shirt for the same price as you would a GEORGE shirt from ASDA. steelblade 10-06-2003, 14:32 I don't really get this "city living" business, why on earth would anyone want to live in town? I can't think of anything worse. E-Man Groovin 10-06-2003, 14:34 Originally posted by "DaBouncer" As being a very nice young chap! :D Hmm... appearances can be decieving  DaBouncer 10-06-2003, 14:34 If I were single, city living would be ideal for me. Close to work, pubs, clubs and city social life. As a none single person a house with anice garden is the best choice for me because it's what the better half wants. If that makes her happy, then I'm happy! E-Man Groovin 10-06-2003, 14:36 Originally posted by "DaBouncer" If I were single, city living would be ideal for me.
