I've had my passenger door resprayed ( couple of small dents, plus quite a few scratches)plus they did under the rear window (was rusty as hell so they did that), plus rust near reg plate at the back, another pot of rust near driver door.
..... For £300

Perfect job but was it good value?

Give it a couple of months and see if the rust resurfaces. Then you'll know for sure!!!

Sounds not too bad, I need mine doing, my gate post got in the way of my rare door. Where did you get it done?

I used GK Group at Chesterfield for a bit of light rust repair to 2 wheelarches, a cill and a door bottom. The rust was back within 2 weeks, even before the credit card statement arrived. They had a little further attempt (ineffective) and then didn't want to know. Crap service.

You hit the nail on the head there nuf_said.

Any half decent repair shop can make the repair 'look' like new, but whether the rust has been got rid of is another matter.

Time will tell, so although it may look good now, this time next month it could be worse than before the work was carried out.

I once repaired a rust patch myself. It was about 1 inch diameter, and had been like this for about a year - never getting any bigger. I treated the rust, filled, primed, sprayed (several coats), lacquered...the works. It looked perfect...........for about six weeks! The rust came through in a 2 inch diameter circle with a vengence. The work carried out by me made it worse.

You're now worrying me!! Surely people wouldn't pay the earth for rust to come back within weeks? Bodyshops wouldn't do any business!!

No intention to worry you Sony.

You asked if £300 was a fair price. The answer is YES, but only if the job has been done properly...not just bodged to look good.

The point that's being made is that whether the job WAS done well will only become clear with time.

If they're a reputable firm you SHOULD be okay.

a good job should mean that it was cut out and then had new plate welded in place. Sometimes the phosphoric acid treatment works, but for that it's a diy job.

Oh well, time will tell anyway.
