Can anyone help me please? I am unable to download Windows Updates. Each time I close the computer down I am asked if I want to download them before closing, at the moment when I click to say yes I find there are 92 updates all waiting and that number keeps getting bigger because they are never downloaded. Each time I start the computer up a message comes up in the bottom right hand corner of the screen stating I have downloads waiting but once again when I go to intall them and after a few mins. a message comes up "downloads not installed".
Can anyone help please.

Use Internet Explorer to install:

tools-> windows update

The follow the prompt on the web page. This will also give you a clearer view of any error messages, post em back here and we will try to help.

I've been having the same problem,so I downloaded Service Pack 3 and problem solved.

I'm assuming you're running Windows XP.

Hi and thanks for your interest in my problem. I have tried what you said and after a scan message comes up "Some windows components required" I clicked to download and message comes that I need "Genuine Advantage validation tool" I clicked to download that but message came up that it was not installed with error code "0x80242006" but I can't find any mention of this mentioned anywhere. In a little while I'll try what Dozey suggested and try downloading Service Pack 3 unless you have any other ideas. Thanks anyway
