Many apologies if this has come up before...couldn't find this exact issue.

With a seemingly random selection of songs (but lots of them) when I try to play them in itunes, I get the little exclamation mark with the message itunes could not play the song because the original file could not be found, would you like to locate it?

Ok when I look thought my itunes folder and double click on the file, it plays in itunes and from then on itunes can find it OK.

When I sync my ipod, it seems to find all these songs no problems although it gives the error message some songs could not be synced (Or similar).

This is very annoying; surely I don't have to go through all the "missing" files and double click on them to get them back so that itunes can play them, do I?

Hi, I have had this happen to me a few times. The first time it happened I reloaded about 50 songs, the second time it happened I located my itunes music folder, made sure all my music was located in there and deleted all the songs in the itunes library, then its just a case of selecting all the files in your itunes music folder and dropping them into the itunes library window and there all there again. Im sure there is an easier way to do it, but it worked for me. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I was hoping there might be a short cut. Oh well. It only actually affects playing music on the pc so maybe I can learn to live with it.

New tunes I put on seem to be fine.
