I think I saw it right, just caught the tail end of dinnertime news. They showed pictures of these dogs, most with unhealed injuries caused by fighting. He got 16 weeks I think it said and was banned from keeping dogs. Despicable :rant:

how are they going to police the non-keeping of dogs?

given that this 'sport' is usually centred around illegal gambling, how are they going to deal with that aspect too? or aren't they going to bother?

That is disgusting. Often these dogs are stolen family pets which breaks my heart.

GOD- thats more than enough detail. One poor dog had a huge eye infection, another had scars all over his face, front and legs, his leg had an open wound, they use super glue apparently to put the dogs back together if the wounds are too deep.

They cant police it, thats the whole problem and its very dangerous for anyone to get involved. I saw something years ago that alerted me to dogs being used for fighting, reported it to rspca and police and NOTHING, but they told me not to get involved with these people as they are dangerous and guns etc are commonplace. Frightening.

I agree totally , hopefully in the nick some people will give him hell. I hate animal cruelty of any sort.

We have 2 dogs that we walk daily that we think were used for this kind of practice. they are lovely with people but every dog is a threat, they are having help and gradually there has been improvements, with hard work and love dogs can be saved and helped.

Sixteen weeks, thats terrible, I hope the poor dear doesnt suffer too much in that horrible prison, my heart goes out to him and I hope hes back in the world again soon torturing more animals for his and others entertainment.

He ought to be made to fight for a living, against people like him, in a pit for the amusement of others.
Trouble is, he has "Human rights" even though he`s far from human so he`ll be coddled and cared for.

Personally, Id rip his balls off.

the sad thing is he will probably be sent to an open prison and serve a few weks of his sentence, and come out tagged for the rest of it!!!!
