Well the food has been taken up and the other cats are on the verge of a mutiny because baby Arnie (aged 6 months) goes for the big snip in the morning and they are used to having dried food 'on tap'... http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u30/katkin2/20080313_60.jpg

He [Arnie] is blissfully unaware of this impending intrusion to his vulnerable bits http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u30/katkin2/20080330_41.jpg and suitably puzzled as to why his full food dish has magically emptied itself... I'll be glad when it's all over and he's back home again, minus the crown jewels and hungry for something special... http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u30/katkin2/IMGP2857.jpg

Think of him, will you all!

Aww bless him. Try not to worry too much, I know its hard. When I had my cat, Baby, neutered, I felt awful all day. She sulked for a week! He'll be ok, just spoil him when he comes home with lots of gentle cuddles :)

Thanks all. I'm sure he'll give me plenty of reasons to fuss him like carzy when he gets back home tonight. xK

Awwww- poor Arnie. It's a necessary evil and a much smaller op for the boys to have the snip than the girls. I'm sure he'll play merry hell until he gets all the love later on- give him a snuggle off me please.

aww thanks all. Other half is going to ring at 1 and then we can nip out for lunch (we work in adjoining offices). Hoping the fluffy dude will be ready to collect before 4pm. Cant remember how many ops they had on today but it was quiet when we took him in (except for the feline howling and protestations of course).

Hi all, the nut-less one will be ready for collection at 3:30pm, all went well and he is probably wondering what's for tea now (or breakfast, seeing as he went without). xK

So much for 'he'll be a bit whoozy for a while, keep him quiet for 24 hrs, feed a bland meal and generally treat him with kid gloves' the little divil is tearing about the house as if nothing's changed - had the dog inspecting his nether regions and not made any objection, tucked into a bowl of cat food meant for one of the others and has just been shredding my one and only decent houseplant (the one I was foolish enough to buy a week ago). He's been giving out heaps of FUSS and telling us all about his great big adventure whilst I was the one having palpitations about how his op would go!

:hihi: Bless him, has he got stitches? Oliver didn't and his wound was tiny all healed and no probs what so ever... Arnie sounds like he will be the same :D

No stitches Moonbird - and he's shown no interest in licking the area , only his butt - the vet trimmed the fur round there and he can probably get to it now without getting a mouthful of grubby fur (one of the down-sides of owning long-haired cats!) He just has to go back next Tues for a post-op check but for now he's fine. It wasnt as pricey as I thought either- £45.
