when the school was called herries there was a air dome in the yard

does anyone have any pics of the exterior and also interior ?

I dont have any pics, but I remember it well!
When the kids were'nt slashing the poor thing with a knife to see how long it took for it to go down :roll: it was great!
We all had to squeeze into the doorway, then close the outside door before the inside door could be opened, or it would deflate!
The inside was huge! You wouldnt had thought it was so big from the outside. Badmington/tennis courts, basketball/netball and whatever else the teacher could think of to play in there. Shame they took it down, but it was patched up with tape all over! Plus the electricity it mustve used to keep it inflated mustve cost a bomb!
You could try contacting the school to see if they have any pics, or the main library in town mustve got some pics in their archives. ;)

Ah, the old air dome! I don't have any photographs either, but I'd love to see some too. All i have is memories. I left Herries in 1984 and remember some braver kids than me used to climb on the generator, jump on the airdome and then run up it onto the very top. They'd get down by bouncing down one of the corners. And what about all the smoking that when on behind it? Great meeting place at break though! I'm told the kids there now smoking openly! Oh, how times have changed.:(

May i just add, my old class were the last ones ever to have a PE lesson in there, that night some little sod cut it so bad it wasnt worth repairing

it got set on fire dinit im sure it did i can remember smoke coming from the air dome when i was in shirecliffe

yea i can remember seeing loads of black smoke coming from it but i cnt remember anything past that haha

i was in shirecliffe i the late 90s and it got set on fire and was giving off large plumes of smoke.
