View Full Version : Adrenal tumours in ferrets

One of my ferrets has just been diagnosed with a possible adrenal tumour.

He's losing fur on his back but seems perfectly fine otherwise, still eating and playing normally.

I definitely want him to have the surgery and have done a bit of research, but I wondered if anyone had any experience of this?

My vet is really good but not very experienced with ferrets, so this would be a first for him, although he'd have someone with him 'just in case'.

Does anyone know any ferret friendly vets to get a second opinion?

Replying to my own post here:

I've just spoken to an experienced ferret owner and she says she's had 2 ferrets with this illness and neither have had operations or medication. One lived to age 9 and the other is 7 and still going strong.

Any other experiences would be appreciated as this is a huge decision to make, especially as the vet said it's a major op and the outcome wouldn't be guaranteed.
