Hi Guys

i have a gorgeous springer spaniel he's just 1 year old, my little Boy is called Ben & whenever he gets excited he wees, not loads just a little spray, I never tell him off because its an accident and not intentional he's just hapy to see his mummy!

Has anyone experienced the same problem and can anyone give any ideas on how to prevent it?

Thanks

The only way I can think is to reduce the excitement factor.

For example, when you come home/down in the morning, resist the temptation to make a fuss of the dog (hard with such a beauty!). Instead, ignore the dog, put the kettle on, hang up coats etc, and only after a few minutes greet the dog when he has calmed down.

It'll be messy for a while, but it is now anyway, but he'll soon learn to be patient and wait for his turn to get some attention.

This technique also helps with visitors - the dog learns that the visitor is not there to see him and he won't get any attention until he is calm.

Yeah i try and do that..very difficult indeed.. but it also happens when i put his lead on. for walkies.. i never say anything to tease like "walkies" i just pick up his lead and he sits and shoots.. bless him..
he was a rescue dog and use to get shall we say "told off" for the excitement weeing!
Took me ages to stop him from cowering when we first got him when he did it,

Lets hope they both grow out of it

If he is anything like the one I once had, they are that unfortunate combination of being ridiculously daft, but completely lovely.:hihi::hihi:

And not easy to ignore. :hihi:
