I am doing or trying to do my hodkin family tree arghhh
as i am in west oz its rather difficult to track on the web.
I know i have cousins & their kids still around sheffield.My grandad was alonzo hodkin born 1882 & he had several sibs who would have had kids, anyone here know of any?

there are a lot of hodkin families in Eckington , dont know if that helps

You could try registering with www.genesreunited.co.uk this is another branch of friends reunited but trys to connect people with the same family name etc to help you build your family tree.
You never know somebody in your family could already be on??
i am on genes.. & several other boards that don't charge fees. Also I live in west oz & just the net is difficult to find details.

i lived near to a family called Hodkin in Dronfield (Derbyshire) in the late 70's they were an old couple who had a young son, probably about 10 in 1975/76. I think they were related to the family called Wilf and Ivy Dronfield who lived next door

I work with a Nigel Hodkin, his parents are from High Green AFAIK.

sorry for the delay i been in & out of hosp...
anyhow yes hugh these are my grandads sibs, but i did not know that thurza & florence were the one person?? as I thought it was thurza 1885 & theresa 1886??
I have now found that alonzo's parents were james hodkin 1836 & sarah gregory 1848, but it may also be that james married someone called ann b4 1863 no other info.
I have traced james back to his grt.grandparents, so the one you have is not my grt.grandad :)
now i wish to find any of alonzo's sibs-their kids i guess now.

The reason I thought that Thurza and Theresa (not Florence!) were the same person was that I couldn't find any trace of Thurza apart from the 1891 census. No birth, death or marriage. The indexes I checked are incomplete so I could be wrong. But, if so, where is Theresa in 1891 :confused:
