I have an NTL: 2mb connection, ran the internet connection optimizer in system mechanic pro 5, after that i was unable to connect to the internet. I tried to reinstall the software that came with the broadband. The software says that it found an IP adress for the network adaptor, but not a default gateway. Any ideas on what can help? I'm desperate please!

I'm currently on my comp at work, so I wont be able to get back to you immediatly, probably between 13:30 and 14:00 tomorow.

Firstly I cvouldnt get it to find an IP but i re-arranged the settings and it now finds an IP but default gateway.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Right click my network places --> properties

2. Right click local area connection --> properties

3. select TCP/IP & choose (yes again) properties

4. Choose the 2 options that mention "automatically" & click OK

5. Un-install any ISP software

6. Re-install said software

Problem solved!

Windows reallocated me a default IP, i reset it and the new original IP worked fine so the internet is back, so I am coming to you from my desk at home back with full 2Mb Broadband.
