View Full Version : Cala Eclipse apartments on St Marys Gate - Cancelled?
skyfitsboy 22-03-2005, 11:43 Does anyone know what is happening with the Cala Eclipse apartments on St Marys Gate?
Construction was scheduled to start on site in January, but no activity has happened.
Now the land where the Eclipse is due to be built is for sale, as the development been scrapped?!!
Cala Eclipse apartments (http://www.blundells.com/centro/developments.html)
Phone Blundells and ask them, they should know.
skyfitsboy 22-03-2005, 15:54 I've already tried Blundells Centro and they know as much about the land for sale as me, hence my query on here:mad:
skyfitsboy 09-06-2005, 18:14 According to some guy that works in the development field in Sheffield the Eclipse has been cancelled because values in Sheffield are too low to justify commencement and deposits are about to be sent back to prospective purchasers.
I don't know how accurate this guys comments are you can read the thread here (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=214913)
Does anyone know anyone who has actually put a deposit down on one of these Cala Eclipse apartments?
I think that you will find it is the adjacent plot belonging to AMCO that is for sale.

No it's definitely the Eclipse see here (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=4408493&posted=1#post4408493)
That's all very interesting but where does it tell me that the Cala site is for sale?
Just rang Blundells this morning and they didn't have a clue but after making some enquires they have confirmed that the project is "on hold" at present. Shows how much the agent who are supposed to be selling the development know.

Tony, I'm not on about the land owned by AMCO being for sale, but for your info the site is split into two halves, both owned by AMCO, only one half is currently for sale, but not the half where the Eclipse is/was to be built.
Anyone who has put a deposit down on one of these Eclipse apartments and needs clarification please feel free to discuss this further with Alan Brown, Chairman of CALA Homes (Yorkshire) directly on 0121 629 1300 or mobile 07768 013 599.

You've lost me skyfitsboy
You said in your OP that the Cala land was for sale, now you say it is the AMCO land. Am I misreading your words or just missing the point?
skyfitsboy 10-06-2005, 11:19 Your getting me confused now talking about the land element, which is not what I was talking about yesterday!
I meant to type the Cala land not the AMCO land in my last post that was a mistake.
My original post was posted way back in March when the Land For Sale sign first went up, which I and others assumed was for the land Cala bought from AMCO for the Eclipse to be built upon.
I should have started a new thread really but thought it was common sense to follow on in this thread.
But anyway I'm not talking about the land issue here, I'm talking about speculation within the local development industry that the Eclipse Scheme has been cancelled.
did anyone actually buy one of those apartments? Blundells told me that 130+ flats of the 200+ flats had already been sold.
Has it actually been cancelled or is it on hold, got told some story from blundells that the developer was having planning problems with having consent to putting a crane on that piece of land.........from January!!!
skyfitsboy 10-06-2005, 14:07 Yeah, last time I asked Blundells about 70% of the apartments had been sold and that was back in April!
