I went in recently and I swear exactly the same people were there 3 weeks ago who were in the same pub in 1986...... still sat in there in the same chairs, same positions.......and same clothes! Its quite nice when pubs don't change at all...ever.....

Used to play snooker with Len - also some Sunday mornings bowls in Crookes Valley park along with Neville and George. My wife and I worked behind the bar for a time.

Strange that Ray. I married Margaret & Frank's eldest daughter. Perhaps we know each other.

She should we all went in the Hallamshire. Remember that charity cricket match in Graves park that Les May organised?. And that glorious Boxing Day celebration in the snug in 1979?

I've been going in the Hallamshire since 1977 and I still like a few games of snooker on Friday nights. Years ago you'd be lucky to get two games in a night, nowadays I'll have four or five.
Frank Glossop was my foreman at work 1974-1981.
I'm surprised there haven't been more people posting in this thread reminiscing about the old days in the Hallamshire.

I didn't play cards but had the odd game of darts when I first went in.
Tim Metcalfe (who also worked at Burrells with myself and Frank) first introduced me to the pub at Easter 1977.
You'll probably remember him I would imagine.
I didn't start playing snooker until about 1979 to be honest but have always played since then.
