3. Google indicates you can plant just about anything, but vines or root vegetables sound likely

I think that this one depends on denomination and nationality. There are all kinds of different customs. AFAIK Methodists use hot cross buns.

This is more likely to be the answer if this is a pub quiz, although Fig Sunday is also correct.
Thanks for filling in the spring bulbs one. I thought it might be this, but there are references for everything from potatoes to trees out there on the big, bad internet :)
They never hand cakes out after the service at the church I go to. We do get dinky little crosses made of plam leaves though. :)
