My westie and my parents dog keep coughing, and my parents dog was sick earlier but it was just clear, like water?
It's only been happening today, and I don't think my dog has been sick or anything.
Does anyone know what it could be? Could it be something they've both eaten?
(The Hmm was on the end as my subject wasn't long enough!)
there has been kennel cough going round for a few months now maybe it could be that.

Sounds like could be kennel cough as mentioned before in previous posts.
My parents dog has been to vet this wk been told he has it (they dont live in sheff thou)
He was sick about 3 times when out walking then 8 times in an hour. so they took him to vet to be told he had kennel cough. Must have picked it up from the woods from other dogs-highly contagious. The vets made sure no other dogs were in waiting room when he went out and also moped floor after he left! (poor little leper!)
Starts of with 12 hrs of sickness and then coughing, they caught him early.
He had injection, then wks of antibiotics. No contact with other dogs for a week. So poor Jasper will have to have path walks-he won't be a happy dog.

Dogs catch KC from contact with other infected dogs, and it can also be air born.
As said already baby benalyn is quite good, you can also get liquorice sticks ( the raw stuff not like bassets :hihi:) from health shops, boil in a pan of water for 10 mins, then allow to cool, you then add some honey and a squeeze of lemon, and use it in place of the usual drinking water, that really helped my dogs after they caught KC from Lucy.
If you think the dog is either unwell or develops a bad chest you must take him to the vet though as it can develop into pneumonia.
If it is kennel cough, which it does sound like it is. Benylin will only ease the cough and not cure it, you will need antibiotics from the vet.
Is the cough particulalry worse after excertion (ie after a walk)? If so then it is probably kennel cough, make sure you do not come into contact with any other dogs until the antibiotics have finished and the cough is clear.
Good luck
