I'm getting married in July next year  I'm after a car that is different from your usual Rolls Royce style. Does anyone know of any cheap wedding car hire places? Because I don't fancy paying over a 1000 for a car that isn't going to cater to my needs! Thanks!

Hi there,
We had a fantastic wedding car, from Ranmoor Vintage Car Hire, 0114 2665600. Eric Staniforth, the owner and one of the drivers is absolutely brilliant, he has two cars, one is a rolls (the exact one that Barbara Windsor bought for her boyfriend ... Eddie/ Ronnie Knight????) The other car is the one we used and is beautiful, a 1927 Franklin Sedan....Straight 6. (of which there are only 3 running)
He has a web-site http://www.ranmoorweddingcars.co.uk
It cost us £175 for approx. 3 hours use. An immaculate and reliable car:thumbsup:
Highly recommended,
Hope this helps:)

We had a 1976 Beetle in Old English White. £50, sourced through the sheffield VW club - I e-mailed them to see if any of thier members fancied showing off their hobby and being our chauffeur....Brill!

after looking at hiring cars for my wedding day and getting loads of expensive quotes, i got into a black cab the other day and thought how great it would be to go to the church in one. Its got so much space inside for a dress not to get crumpled and you can even get you bridesmaids in for the fraction of the price!:hihi: :hihi:
what does everyone else think.....trying to do my wedding on a budget you see!lol:hihi: :hihi:

Sounds pretty classy actually! They're nicely traditional aren't they...

Perhaps you could ask if they'll do you a favour and stick some ribbon on the cab for you?

rubydazzler
12-05-2007, 23:11
Maybe you could pre-book a white one, I've seen a couple around the city. I'm sure they'd be willing for you tie your ribbons on the door handles and bonnet.

Hope it all works out the way you want. Happy Wedding Day :)

Yeah, we had them on the 24th November and it cost us £500 for both. They took the groom from the travel lodge he was staying at the night before, to the church with the best man, then came for me and the Bridesmaids and then, after the service, they took us on to the hotel for the reception.

We have used this company in the past, they provided us with 2 Rolls-Royce Phantoms in York, very professional and extremely competitive pricing. I highly recommend them, they won't disappoint. We ended up spending over a k with them, but it was well worth it.

Thanks for providng the web address, I had lost it and was trying to google it.

lol poor OH making him get the bus that would be so funny!!!

try ASL limo's for car hire just got some quotes off them and they are charging 300 for 3 hours for 2 merc's which I think is pretty reasonable. Other than that maybe you could just hire a limo for an hour i think it is about a hundred and you get free bubbly.

PM me for their details xxx

Thanks Looby Lou, i've had a quote for £199 which seems very reasonable, they'll do all the pick ups for that. Now got to see if we can budget that in now, my OH's mum expects him to go on a mini-bus with the rest of his family, somehow i think he would rather walk :hihi:

hes going to have trouble on the day as the church is on the same side where i live
and about 20 houses away....
so he will have to go round the block in a big circle about 10 mins.
to get 100yrds back where he started
enough time to open a bottle of bubbly
and have a drink before getting there.;o)
put it this way the back of the car when picking me up
will be nearly at the church lol
he also has the identical limmo but with gold trims.

I've got a similar problem, my mum doesnt drive and as i want my dad to travel with me, she'd be stuck, as well as my nannan, brother, his girlf and a few other family members. I also have my son, who is the best man, but he's in a wheelchair. I've tried to find wheelchair access wedding transport to no avail so am going to hire a wheelchair access minibus instead! I'm asking everyone who wants to travel in it to contribute a little to the cost as i can't afford it all, but i'm sure it'll work out cheaper to them than each taking a seperate taxi!

We are looking for a new Mercedes style car for our wedding in March. (not interested in limos or vintage, just brand new looking models)

We've seen a really nice black AMG sports model at Beaus and Belle at Pontefract(http://www.beausandbelles-weddingcars.co.uk/), but the £425 is a little over our budget.

We only want 2 trips (the first 500yds and the 2nd of less than 2 miles) all in S6 over a timescale of around 3hrs.

Can anyone recommend a company that may be able to offer similar, but cheaper?

Rather than a "wedding car company", does anyone know of someone who owns a nice merc that would like to be a chauffer for the afternoon? LOL.

All we need is a glorified taxi service to take me and my dad plus bridesmaids from the hotel to the wedding venue at a reasonable price. The journey takes less than 10mins (Rutland Hotel to Tapton Hall) and we don't need the car for photos. Best quote so far has been £90 for 2 hours hire.

Can anyone beat that? Still trying to drive (scuse the pun) down costs where we can!

So why not have a different trip to the wedding. Hire one or take everyone to the wedding and hire all 3.

Im looking at about £200 for weddings for 2 vehicles which I dont think is bad considering how much mainstream VW rentals are charging.Just depends on how far. how long. photos etc I know there not everyones cup of tea but I love them and think they would add that little extra something to anybodies wedding day. Just depends if I have to take the day off work to do it as im a nurse so have to cover using one of my annual leave days at work.
Hope to here from you soon......well in 2 years

We have a bus to cary 76 of the guests. just another 25 to account for. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd rather hire privately than off a company if possible.

I'm thinking something to get the guys there - 6 plus groom

Something to get the girls there - 6 plus me

Something to get me and groom to reception after.

That leaves 12 but I'm sure someone will drive.

Thanks everyone,

Do you have the big printed adverts all over the limo's?
Hi Gemmy

No our limo`s and cars do not have advertising on them which makes them a lot better for your wedding photos.

We have a number of different limo`s and cars to choose from so we would be able to solve your problem of guests too also we could do more than one trip depending how far it is from the pick ups to the destinations .

We have a website where you can go and view the vehicles and have a read about us .
The website is having some work done on it at the moment but i`m sure all the pages are live still.

Here`s the website www.asllimousines.co.uk

For an Austin Princess Classic Car, I would highly recommend GEEVS Classic Cars.

We are getting married August 2009 and have been searching for the right car, and came across this company based in Westfield.

He keeps his cars in good condition throughout the year, which is a lot to be said when other companies we looked at just leave them out in the elements over the winter.

He was a very warm and nice man and I have every confidence in him for our big day.

He has 3 Austin Princess cars all in cream and black, one of them the back of the roof will fold down. Each car was under £300 for what we needed, so compared to other places was well priced too.

His website is here

If you are looking for a Mercedes, but not your bog standard C class, then look at Halifax Prestige Wedding Cars. They've got a lovely CLS320 which we had for our wedding last month.

They were happy to come to Sheffield for job and they were still cheaper than other CLS's that I had been quoted for closer to home.

Highly recommended.

Could anyone recommend a well priced wedding transport service on a budget?? Not compromising on service??
I am on a budget of £300 or hopefully less, i would need 2 cars, going from hillsborough to wortley hall, wortley , penistone. I really like the more traditional wedding cars rather than a limo or something more modern.
Is my budgeted £300 too low?? Weddings are soooo expensive!! x x x

I was speaking to a man in the pub the other night who has shire horses with which he does weddings/rides at Carsington water and a few shows. He said he doesnt advertise himself other than in the Peak Advertiser but does do weddings throughout Sheffield and the surrounding area. He charges around £350 for the shire horse, their wedding coach and champagne after the ceremony.

Have got his details if anyone is interested. Looking at another leaflet i got it was £700 so thought this was quite good value!! (just need to get married now!!)

This would only be a quick 15 minute job at the most as it is just taking us from one end of the village to the other. It can be done in 2 runs if all 5 people won't fit.

Hi

Meet Buster, my 1964 VW camper.

http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._6767616_n.jpg

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id...6&l=a8763275e8

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...36&l=20dd64e59

After purchasing Buster in 2006, he has had a full top to bottom restoration that has taken almost 2 years. He has spent all his life in the UK so required a “little” work!! The work was done by all the family so a lot of love has gone in to him. After completion in summer 2008, we have covered many miles and made many smiles along the way!! Buster was restored using top quality components and upgraded along the way for a safer enjoyable ride.

Buster has a lot more to offer than your standard VW Bus. Features are as follows –
• Stunning paint work, with tasteful chrome trim.
• 13 windows of which all open or pop out. Tinted rear windows for a little extra privacy (Safari Windows).
• Beautiful interior matching the outside 2 tone colours.
• Awesome In Car Entertainment including : Premium sound system, 4 TV screens including a 19” screen, DVD player, I-pod connection, Blue/White LED mood lighting, Scart hook up (can plug camcorder/digital camera)
• Fully fitted seatbelts all round.
• 5 bow Stainless/wooden roof rack.
• Fully gas heated.
• Room for 5 people with lots off leg/dress room (includes Driver.....ME!!!)

He’s got to be one of the best VW’s out there right now and get’s very positive attention wherever he goes. Buster is perfect for that special occasion and will help make your day, a day to remember.
Buster will be decorated with ribbons and flowers and come with a complementary bottle of bubbly!!
I have full insurance for private hire unlike a lot of VW owners

Please feel free to contact me if you have any more questions or queries. Thanks for your interest.

I recently came across limo hire service provider which is the only directory completely dedicated to providing its clients with only the legally abiding limousine companies. I am sure that you will find wedding car and a wide platform for your choice. Check my signature.

Hi dieselbabe.

Sorry we can't help with the trike. Or come to think of it the Porsche 911 but can do Bentley Arnage T (current model) and/or Aston Martin Vantage it either of these will do?

If not, good luck with your quest! and whatever wedding transport you end up with have a lovely day.

Simon

Ps. the Bentley is Yorkshire's ony current model Arnage licensed as a taxi so we can do your honeymoon trip or airport run if you like. £100 + £1 per mile (or £100 only if you book at same time as wedding booking).

I was just wondering what is a reasonable cost for the hire of a wedding car? Can anyone help, please?

Use a freinds car for free! some people advertise old Rolls Royce Silver Spirits for £100 all the way up to a new Phantom which will cost about £1000.

Some things you may want to think about.

1. Are they insured for hire and reward?
2. Is the car reliable?
3. Is the car safe? (licensed cars are tested every 3 months).
4. Is the driver safe (licensed operators go through enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check and taxi driving test).
5. Is the company reliable?
6. Do they take other bookings for that car in the same day?
7. Do they provide child seats if needed?
8. Has the chauffeur taken any additional training for example:
British chauffeurs Guild
Institution of Advanced Motorists
Bentley Chauffeurs Academy (where many of the worlds Royal chauffeurs are trained).
9. If they give a complementary bottle of Champagne is it quality such as Moet and Chandon or a 99p bottle of fizzy?
10. do they offer discounted airport honeymoon travel after the wedding?

Good luck in finding the car you want. :)

Hi i've tried looking for this website but am having no joy. I'm after a newish wedding car for this august!

sorry my mistake the website s actually http://www.aristocatweddings.co.uk/ they have 3 cars, two which I am having for september which are the 1949, mark 5 Jag (Lotty) and 1968 Mark 2 '340' Jag (Nelly).
The other is a 1996 XJ6 'Executive' (grace) if this is anything like the other two then it will be in fantastic condition. They are not a massive company and do it for the love of it so are very reasonably priced and the cars are amazing. A must for any Bride and Groom.

Please PM or reply if you can help us out at all. Cheers.

A Daimler DS420 limousine has a very similar internally spacious layout to a black cab i.e glass division, occasional folding seats and offers considerably more luxory and granduer in my opinion, It is physically larger than a black cab probably internally and externally and they seat up to 7 passengers plus driver.

A Black cab will no doubt work out cheaper but you may miss out on a few things like a colour choice of ribbons and bows, uniformed chauffeur, trial journeys of your transport arrangements, floral arrangements in the rear and possibly a champagne toast for after the ceremony.

At the risk of being accused again of touting my wedding cars on here, there is a link to my company kindly posted above by another user.

Not been on here in a while and not sure if this is the right section for this request.

I am looking for a fun form of transport to get me and my ushers to my wedding next June.

I did look at limos but wanted something a bit different, only need it for about half an hour so the big vintage cars are very expensive.

What would be cool if there was someone with a VW van that someone owned and wanted a bit of extra cash.

Did think about an A-team van but Jordan did that!

Any ideas or help appreciated

You can expect to pay £50 for an old banger to £1200 for a new Rolls Phantom, depending on what vehicle and service you require. many companies are offering a second car free at the moment.

We only ever book one wedding per day per vehicle. many things can go wrong on your special day the last thing you need is for your wedding car to shoot off half way through the wedding. as always expect to get what you pay for but make sure you discuss your requirements and get a written quotation with the details of the service to be provided. The wedding car industry is totally unregulated, no need for taxi licences etc. so be careful who you choose and make sure they are insured for Hire and reward.

I just have a bit of a daft query. We are getting married outside Sheffield just past Hathersage in July and I dont really know what I'm supposed to do regarding transport for the guests after the wedding. Do I leave it up to the guests to book, having given them taxi numbers?? Any help would be much appreciated??

I was planning on putting on some busses too and from our venue as its not a hotel and a bit out of town, but depenbding on costs I may end up putting on the invite that it will be a pound or two a head (but still cheaper than a taxi). This is mostly because I don't want people feeling they will have to drive up from the hotel we are using or from home and then not be able to drink should they want to.

Aussie86
11-01-2011, 22:08
Are the majority of the guests going back to the same place e.g. Hotel?

In which case, you might like to suggest to them that you are happy to organise a small coach/mini bus (dependent on the number of guests). If you're wanting to keep costs down, ask them to all chip in a few quid and pay on the night to the driver - which some companies will accept. It saves 10+ taxis and can work out cheaper than taxis and safe knowing everyone gets back ok (no matter how drunk they might be!).

We are trying to save as much money as possible on wedding transport and were thinking of hiring a few black cabs...and maybe a white one for me.

Just wondered if anybody had actually done this and what were they like? Worth it?
Also what companies do you think would be best and were they willing to attach ribbons etc to the cars?

Again really sorry if this has been done.

I'm in the same situation, I only really need transport from my house to the venue (only about 4 miles) and since all day the wedding is in the same place, there is no need to travel between venues. So it will be me and my dad arriving. In theory everyone else should already be there. So if nobody's going to see the car, why spend money? We might as well just get a taxi. I really don't mind doing that.
