View Full Version : So... 3 English teams in the semis again.
Robbie Loving 09-04-2008, 20:50 With Man United doing what was expected, we now have that 3rd team in the semis.
Can we go one better than last year and have an English final, or will Man United mess up again and crack in the Semis?
My tip is Chelsea / Man United final.
I know we will have Paul coming on to say not to discount pool, and I don't. But I would just like to see a change, and think both teams I have picked have it in them this time to go that one step further.
gina1970 09-04-2008, 22:03 My hunch on Shalke went out the window but I still back Chelsea to get in final. Sorry Paul. :hihi:
I see Sir Alex is still worried about Prem though as he left out Ronaldo tonight.
Wish he had let me know as Ronaldo is my captain on UEFA CL fantasy league

Don't discount 'Pool' Robbie :D
I can see where your coming from regarding wanting to see a change. It's getting so boring seeing Liverpool in the final year in year out ;) Not :D
Let's all hope it's the biggest rivals in English football that go head to head in the final! An all out war!
If it is a Manchester Utd against Liverpool final in Moscow how many tickets
will UEFA, in their infinate wisdom, allocate each club?
Guderian 10-04-2008, 08:13 21,000.
UEFA have already sold about 10,000 tickets in an open ballot (unsuccessful application for me).
Added to the cost of the very expensive Moscow hotels, fans will have to factor in the cost of a Russian visa (about £100!).
I think so too that a final with ManU Vs. Liverpool would be great.
scottishdude 10-04-2008, 11:19 Chelsea v Barca would be Magic!
Sorry, Scottishdude, ain't happening. :)
Barca didn't play well and got a little bit lucky against Schalke. Facing ManU will be a lot tougher.
sheffy1986 10-04-2008, 13:52 Liverpool v Man Utd.....classic end to end football: Man Utd winning
Liverpool v Barca.........ditto: Liverpool winning
Chelski v Man Utd........boring and predictable: 1 goal in it to Man Utd
Chelski v Barca...........tight and predictable: 1 goal in it to Chelski

ManU have a long and sorry history of self-destructing in European ties that on paper they should have won. Barca are no great shakes, but I remain convinced that AC last year weren't either
Man U should easily beat Barca.
After watching Barca play against Schalke, they were either playing the minimalist approach and will up their game against Man U or they really are that poor.
I reckon it will be a Man U vs Liverpool final.

So that means in reality it will be Chelsea vs Barca :hihi:

i hate to agree with an owl on this but hes right, wot a game this would be !
Agent Gypo 12-04-2008, 11:06 I'd prefer to see a Man Utd v Liverpool final. Not because Liverpool are anymore exciting than Chelsea though (they aren't).
scottishdude 12-04-2008, 23:02 Messi is back for 1st leg.
Agent Gypo 13-04-2008, 10:04 Messi is back for 1st leg.
I thought he was out for the season with muscle problems, Ronaldinho too...
stonerose 13-04-2008, 14:56 most people ive spoken to fancy united to beat barca, i cant see it myself but feel free to mock me when im wrong
Agent Gypo 13-04-2008, 21:37 Man Utd should overturn Barca. They've been poor for most of this season, have slipped to 3rd in La Liga and were very lucky to make it this far in the Champions League.
Messi is far from fit and Ronaldinho is definitely out for the season, and Rijkaard doesn't employ attacking full-backs these days (partly due to an ageing back four), so their flair is restricted somewhat.
