This sounds really silly, but does my house rabbit need more excersise? She happily runs around the bottom floor of my flat most of the day and evening, and appears reasonably happy. But my mother in law has just bought a harness and lead for her and says its cruel we dont walk her, even though she excercses indoors. Any advice would be appreciated.

hmm i dont think a rabbit can have too much exercise,i dont think you can expose an indoor rabbit to outdoors for long spells and vice versa
i dont suppose a walk in your garden on a dry day would hurt.
personally i wouldnt worry.:)

a couple of little walks a day on concrete (paths) would be good to keep her nails down, my rabbit used to love little walks (and go exploring in the garden)

Please dont use a harness on your rabbit. It sounds like she gets plenty of exercise and rabbit have seriously hurt themselves on leads before (broken limbs to broken necks and backs).

As prey animals they take flight when startled and will literally strangle themselves on a lead trying to get away. There is also the risk of picking up diseases and parasites walking them away from the home or in areas frequented by wild rabbits.
