CJB444 20-03-2005, 23:53 Tried to get some info on this yesterday but to no avail. Road was closed from the Reservoir onwards (towards Manc.) from at least 3.45pm until 5.40pm. Unfortunately I would presume given the closure and time involved that there was a fatality. MuteWitness 21-03-2005, 09:00 they bought the 3 girls that had done the U turn to the ladybower pub - not the best place to bring the m too! Cols 21-03-2005, 09:16 U-turn on the Snake Pass !!!!!!! Another fellow biker dies and the perpetrator will get their 3 points and £150 fine. Hook 21-03-2005, 09:17 Originally posted by Cols U-turn on the Snake Pass !!!!!!! MuteWitness 21-03-2005, 09:23 dont know if he/she has died, or maybe the car driver died. Cols 21-03-2005, 09:24 Originally posted by Hook Dangerous Driving more likely I'd have thought! 6 points and £200 then. technophobe 21-03-2005, 09:43 Speculation!!!! doesnt get us anywhere. Come on guys - someone find out what actually happened before we sentence them all to the electric chair!!! lol AGB1 21-03-2005, 14:08 My girlfriend was one of the first cars on the scene. Apparently the 3 girls were indeed trying a 3 point turn, the bike came over the brow of a hill and hit them. The biker was some 40 metres away from his bike on the ground in a heap, although she thought he was talking to another person who had stopped. As for the girls. Apparently all they couldnt speak and were very shook up. I'm pretty sure it;s illegal to do 3 point turns on A roads isnt it ?? If so then the driver may well be in trouble. My girlfriend left the scene quickly in order to phone an amubulance from the pub as no-one's mobile had any signal. Cant seem to see anything in the news about it though. MuteWitness 21-03-2005, 14:14 if its not illegal its very stupid and most of the snake is solid white lines anyway Hook 21-03-2005, 14:27 Originally posted by AGB1 My girlfriend was one of the first cars on the scene. I can't see anything in the highway code about U-Turns/3 point turns being illegal, except when indicated by Signage. To those who are critical about penalties... Dangerous driving normally includes an immediate ban from driving (it's obligatory according to the highway code), although in exceptional circumstances there may not be a ban (although I don't know what would count as exception) and between 3-11 points may be given, as well as an UNLIMITED fine, and imprisonment of 2 years. Death by Dangerous Driving carries a 10 year imprisonment, unlimited fine, and an obligatory minimum two year driving ban. Abdul 21-03-2005, 14:30 Why on earth did the girls attempt a three point turn on the Snake Pass? Did they miss their turning at Manchester? :loopy: Cyclone 21-03-2005, 14:33 Originally posted by Hook I can't see anything in the highway code about U-Turns/3 point turns being illegal, except when indicated by Signage. I know. If I put across in my post that it meant a 3 point was 'OK' in that sort of situation.. then I apologise! I was just correcting the person who commented that a 3 point was illegal on an 'A' class road. 5_HATS 21-03-2005, 14:56 Is the motorcyclist OK? |
